I'm back in LEOPARD and my mouse issue only got solved by typing in cpus=1 as suggested in another thread. How can I run the bootup sequence and have these commands included without me having to press F8 each time during bootup and typing the command line.

Thanks!

Hello!

I have been trying to get this to install for about a week now, doing lots and lots of research through the forums, and I'm somewhat stuck. Hopefully someone can point me in a better direction or help me out a bit...

First of all, this is the hardware rundown:

cpu: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600

mobo: Intel DG965WH

memory: 2gb ddr2

hdd: SATA 320gb (empty, brand new), IDE 200gb (just has my music, apps, and such)

drive: SATA DVD-RW

video: onboard x3100

sound: onboard, presonus firepod

I originally was using an IDE dvd drive, but I'm not an idiot and I know that the install wont happen on the jmicron controller... so I upgraded to the sata dvd drive (was having problems with the old one anyway). However, even with the sata dvd drive, I still can't get to the installer. It's sad, I know.

Basically, this is what happens when booting with -v (wish I could take a screenshot or take a picture):

...all seems fine until:

Extension "com.apple.driver.ApplePCIConfigurator" has immediate dependencies on both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpi components; use only one style.

mbinit: done

Security auditing service present

BSM auditing present

and bam... nothing more. Just sits there.

Here is what I've tried:

-Changed every possible BIOS setting: (drive options: RAID, AHCI, IDE, disabled CPU limit, enabled XD or whatever it is called, and anything else I saw on the forums that existed in my bios)

-All these boot flags: -v -x -s cpus:1 vanilla

Not really sure what else to do because I can't seem to get very and search that dependencies message didn't really turn up much. A few people stated a similar message, but no solutions or things to try were stated.

Let me know if you guys have any suggestions! I'd love to get somewhere with this. Thanks in advance.

Same things happens to me, i left osx installing when i left home this morning, only thing i did different was not try to install nvidia drivers, if it still has the same problem im going to see if its the vanilla kernel causing the problem by booting into the disk with vanilla. I'll also try installing without vanilla to know what happens. Though i am wondering if this has happened to someone else with leopard as i know its happen in 10.4.X

I have the same motherboard. It would get stuck exactly like yours. I installed a PNY 7600gt video card and it immediately went to the install screen. No more hangups. Was able to get it running, no sound, no lan.

Good luck.

"2.4 Ghz Unknown" is normal for the Q6600. It should still see and use all four cores.

I have the following problem:

Install went fine. Used the Kalyway 10.5.1 DVD, chose GUID, formatted, installed.

When I boot up after the install (and after removing the DVD), I see the grey loading screen, then, for the blink of an eye, a blue empty screen, then I get a black screen with an outlined arrow cursor in white in the top left corner.

Several reboots later, and the screen always fades to black after the brief blue view.

Tried my luck on IRC, and got some help, none of it solved my problem, though.

Tips so far:

-v (it runs too fast. I just can't read it)

cpus=1 (didn't solve the problem)

My system: basically the system from the lifehacker hackintosh

asus pw5dh deluxe

e6550 c2d

2 gb ram

250gb hdd

7300gt 512mb

pioneer dvdrw 212blk

I'd be thankful for any tips to get this running.

edit: Sometimes, there's no cursor. I just tried it again with -v, and apparently, the grafics driver is fine. There was no cursor on the black screen after the -v attempt.

Ah, thanks for the reply. I really appreciate it. That points me in a better direction, except I don't have a PCI Express video card.....

Did you get vanilla working?

You are welcome.

I couldn't get vanilla to work, and had to format the hd as MBR. GUID wouldn't work after the install finished and the system tried to reboot.

You can find 7600gt video cards in the 70.00 range. Newegg is a good place to buy.

Good luck.

I tried to install it on a Pentium D 805 processor (Motherboard ASUS P5PE-VM). When the progressbar is almost finishing and it shows only "6 minutes remaining", the PC restarts. The Darwin loader appears on boot, I wait for the system boot, but again it reboots automatically. Is any option that I would choose on boot menu of DVD?

Well, I got it to boot and complete the installation process with -x.

If I try to boot without -x, I get the black screen again BUT I can move the white outline arrow cursor (although a second, identical cursors stays in the upper left corner).

Any thoughts?

I've installed Kalyways DVD and everything went smoothly. But I've noticed that as far as I can tell, when I use Firefox two problems occur. I've tried to reproduce them without Firefox running or with Safari without success.

  1. As I move the curser around often the curser leaves a frozen image of itself at a position it's just been in. This is while the curser itself is still moving (ie. not frozen). As a result you see two curser images on teh screen, one frozen and one reacts normally. The frozen one goes after a few seconds of moving the working curser. It's a little difficult to explain so there's an image below. The working curser is the second one and the other one is frozen there temporarily.
  2. As you can also see from the image there appears an odd square on the browser. This happens when I move the browser around and a small section of what was in that place of before I moved the browser still shows up in the same section. As a result you get the odd square. I've also noticed a small black square can form near the apple icon at times too

picture1de8.pngpicture1un9.png

So far I've only noticed it happens with Firefox. Not Safari or any other appz. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with my graphics card, which is a GMA950. Both QE and CI seem to be working on my system.

Anyone had the same problem and found a solution?

Thanks for any help.

EDIT: I've now also tried iATKOS DVD and weirdly it produces exactly the same problems. It seems it's an issue with my GMA950 graphics card

what's boot have you selected ? efi guid or mbr ? if you have windows on the same hd you must choose mbr efi and deselect guid efi !you need to set your bios correctly too ! 'cause this mobo is totaly support !!! believe me!search on this forum for bios setting some one have post screenshot of bios p5wdh config that works with vanilla select in installer !when you format with diskutility click on option "bottom left" and select zero erase! that will initialise correctly first boot sector !

yes it's a gma 950 issue on laptop ! install use old inteintegratedbuffer.kext that works but have minor glich ! if your not on a laptop you can try to restore original framebuffer of 10.5.1 ! but on laptop you will lose choice of resolution ! or maybe it will hang !
