Well, i have tried the XxX_OS_x86_10.4.11_Install_Disc_Intel_EFI i found on MN.

It took forever to get this 2.4GB image..

It does not work for me at all. Something must be wrong with this dvd. I can´t boot at all with or without EFI. I have tried EFI and NonEFI settings, but no luck.

To bad there´s no other patched 10.4.11 dvd.

The 10.4.11 comboupdate says it´s 10.4.9. I get the restartloop i have never experienced before. I even tried to install just the 10.4.11 combo as i take it it´s patched?

Well, it didn´t work and ruined another good install.

It just doesen´t work for me, and i have tried many combinations on the installer. I can´t be bothered with it anymore. It´s only so fun to reinstall everything 10 times and then your apps.

I really wonder what sort of system you have, blackchungo?

My DP35DP Media motherboard does not like this dvd at all. I appreciate the effort, but this dvd is.. junk. ChaOSX 10.4.10 dvd with the DP35DP soundfix is bad too.

I wish JaS could release a 10.4.11 install dvd. His 10.4.8 install dvd is the best. Koolkals 10.4.10 comboupdate is also great. I have tried all the other installers, but for me they all suck.

Not sure why i can´t get EFI to work at all either. I have tried all howto´s but nothing works. I really wonder how others get EFI to work so easy. No MBR EFI or GUID EFI works for me. My motherboard do support EFI (UEFI), so i hope someone will make use of that for OS X soon.

IS8: Did you know how to fix the speed bus of the mobo? in PC_EFI show only 100mhz, my mobo have 1333mhz bus.

Try this fix. install it and it should works.
Thanks!

This is your fault not from the creator of the dvd, if it not compatible with your system don't {censored} with that lame comment. My system had issues too with this dvd but I found how to fix it in the BIOS, I tweaked it and work like a charm. This guide is the best for noobs like me, I tried many times to run EFI without sucess, this is the best guide!

Just ignore the reported value. Your MoBo runs on it's full FSB speed.

Really? Don´t {censored}?

I say whatever i think about this or the image. I am not a noob running OSX x86, and i have a sweet topend system, friend.

Something is wrong with it, and that is a fact. It does not even allow me to name my drive in discutility.

I have a Core 2 Quad system, and not some lowend SSE2 Pentium 4, ok?

Other install dvd´s (wich i don´t run or use normally)have worked ok in defaultmode, if still not perfect, but this one does not.

Don´t tell me that i did something wrong when you have no clue about it.

I´m not new to computers, and the guides you speak of seem to only work for a few anyway, and then after countless attempts to correct a faulty guide.

If this image is not faulty, and there are no bugs on it, i eat my shorts.

Well, bigmouth, any special BIOS secrets that an advanced compuser like myself have missed for this release or EFI?

Please, tell me if there is some submeny, or atleast provide information on how it works for a P35 chipset.

My comp is as close to a 4 core Mac Pro as you can get.

I have a right to an opinion, and if you can´t take it, screw off. I don´t complain unless something is wrong. Seems like a tampered image, like those JaS 10.4.8 images some users screwed up by wanting some fame.

If i´m wrong and have no clue on how to setup a computer after using them for 20 years, and the image is fault free, i will apologise.

you're right, theres something wrong about the file permissions on the DVD. Im working on it, but im afraid it can not be patched by a PPF....

so, sorry.

nevertheless if you cannot install a patch 'by hand' after 20 years of using computers, you should consider to get an abacus instead...

for the rest of the people: DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE IMAGE. DONT SEED IT NEITHER. Is working for some ppl but im certain theres something wrong with file permissions

...I am unable to restart the computer...

Same problem here. I can Shut Down, the computer shuts down correctly. But when I choose Restart then the monitor goes black and computer stops responding. I have tried several versions of AppleSMBIOS, AppleACPIPlatform, tried removing AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext (CPU temperature raised by 15 degrees without this kext), nothing helps. This is a very minor problem but would be nice if it could be solved.

I didn't have this problem before installing PC EFI and vanilla 10.4.11.

same-thing in here, I can shut down without problem, if we can find out which kext is responsible for the restart we could probably able to hack it in order to work for hackintosh in EFI

Thanks for this guide. I used it until step 5 (and didn´t do step 4), since my system is not compatible with EFI, to upgrade my 10.4.10 JaS install to 10.4.11 and it worked.

Actually, 1st time I rebooted I got some message from the kernel saying it was waiting for something. I don´t remember it exactly. But it kept waiting and repeating the message for about 1 min, but with disk activity... suddenly it went to the GUI, and now everything works and I don´t have this kernel message anymore. Everything is working great.

Anyway, if anyone wants to use the guide only to upgrade, it works.

that´s it.

SSE2 10.4.11 is untested. The DVD includes the last 8.11.1 (both, EFI/no-EFI) by ToH, is said they work on SSE2 but I couldnt test it. You probably need to boot with '-legacy' flag (I do on SSE3).

Otherways you can still use the 8.9.1 kernel also included. The release is pretty much the same as the 10.4.10 but adds the apple 10.4.11 update, efi patches and the new kernels. It wasnt possible to do a PPF due the size of the 10.4.10 image....

The latest kernel doesn't work on SSE2, it fail on my B130.. linking issues with ACPI

Try reinstalling AppleSMBIOS.kext from PC EFI v8.0, repair permissions and reboot.

My OSX86 partition is the second one (hda 0,1)

what should the efi command be in ./startupfiletool /dev/rdisk0s1 ./boot_v8

it says in the tutorial to change the device if you don't have OSX on the first partion of first disk. (not sure what that means).

should it become /dev/rdiskOs2?

damn and blast - I hosed my system with this efi thing. Nothing happens when trying to boot osx86 now. It just keeps rebooting.

Is there anyway to remove the efi thing and get back to booting how it was before?

If not, can I reinstall from the XxX 10.4.11 disc and retain all my settings?

Gonna try this guide today very soon. The only difference is that I am using Uphuck 1.4iR3 updated with PascalW 10.4.10 Delta Updater. I expect it should work the same so I hope it works! :)

@ls8,

My hardware is similar to yours so I think it should work ^_^

Well I followed the instructions and it works great, but my RealtekR1000 ethernet stopped working sometime after the 10.4.11 update or EFI  The Built In Ethernet is recognized, but it won't let me establish a connection.

Also, I have a little tip. If your PS/2 keyboard stops working after the 10.4.11 update, go into the Extensions folder and delete the AppleHIDKeyboard.kext file :D
