I think it shoul be split into

MacOS X Intel - Offical
and
MacOS X86 - Unofficial

because many "Offical Mac Users" will come here because our intel knowledge is very important forthem. They woln`t find answers in their old mac Forums!

Will a visitor to our forums immediately understand what OS X Intel "Official" means? Or Homebrew or any of the other things we've talked about?

That's what I'm having a hard time with at this point - what do you call these new forums?

Edit: What about this setup:

Option 1

OS X on Apple Computers
- TwinMac (Multibooting Windows, *nix)

OS X on PCs
- Installation
- Patches

OR

Option 2

The Mac Forum
- OS X
- Hardware
- TwinMac (Multibooting Windows, *nix)

The PC Forum
- OS X
- Hardware

Should hardware be its own category since there isn't much difference any more, or should it be folded into the two computer types?

I think the distinction has to be between Apple hardware and Other PC hardware. Since the OS will eventually be one in the same. No PC user is going to sit on 10.4.3 forever, and every release from 10.4.4 up will come from a genuine EFI Intel Mac.

So hardware is where to split it.

I think Option 1 looks good Mash....as long as there's still a Hardware sub catering to both groups.

So, 1 vote for separate hardware forums. (I'm a little confused on where Mr. Bond stands)

I see some problems with this, mostly because I think it's two forums that you may need to check for the same thing. Plus, anytime there are two identical forums in different places on the site, it makes it confusing for n00bs. Will there really be THAT much different discussion on hardware?

At this point I'm leaning toward a modified option 2:

* The Mac Forum
- OS X
- TwinMac (Multibooting Windows, *nix)

* The PC Forum
- OS X Installation
- Patches and Files

* Hardware

Sorry Mash....didn't quite explain myself properly...

I meant that the Hardware forums should be rolled into one for both because of the similarities between the two, so essentially like what you have above me, but with a Hardware sub somewhere else that caters to both sections.

well. in my opinion that's not right and it reveals who really owns and pays for this forum.
Real Mac owners should have a different forum!

axept, can you explain your comment a little more? No one is paying for this forum (except Google adsense), and... uh... I guess you could say I own it and I haven't sold out to anyone! :blink:
