my story.

macbook intell core duo, 1gb ram

tiger 10.4.11

downloaded gm of leopard, burnt to a sl dvd. booted fine. tryed archive install, and it archived my old system without installing the new one, i recieved a base system error. i later learned this is probably because i burned the dvd in apple partition format, and not in GUID. in any case, now i have a system that will not start up. i cant access single user mode, although i can still boot from the faulty install disc i made, although i cant install.

what ive got to work with

external hd

leopard install disc (disc util etc)

macbook that still fires up, and can be put into target disc mode, although i have no mac to connect it with. (if i did, i would just swipe the important files i need, reburn the dvd into guid, and install again, but i dont, so, well, i cant)

several pc's

one linux box

so, whta i would really like to know, is if there is any way to reverse this archive, and unarchive my old system. ive cheked, and all my old files are still there.

thats just the basiscs, if you need more information, please ask, as i'm not quite sure what you'll want to know.

thanks very much for the help, i could really use it about now.
