DV Toolkit or DigiTranslator for ProTools LE

I have Mac OS 10.4.8 on a PPC... I have Pro Tools 6.9.2 LE ... update: OS10.4.10 Pro Tools 7 LE

I Do Not Have DigiTranslator or DV Toolkit

I need the ability to import OMF into my protools sessions as well as some of the other features offered as I am going to be working a lot with sound design, mixing for independent film.

I don't know if I'm looking for a k. Not sure which I would need. I have the demo that came with Pro-Tools when I bought it (which expired a year ago). Can probably find the OM disc and re-install (if that would help)

I found this thread: http://lovemac.org/2005/11/29/question-res...the-dv-toolkit/which let me know that there was a way, but it's very old and the links are dead.

Also there is a serial for DV Toolkit in SerialBox but I'm assuming it's for DV Toolkit 2 (Although it doesn't specify) If I even try to enter a serial in my demo it says it needs an ilok to be in my computer. (which I don't have - but do use the ilok reset for some other plugs)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :P

How the hell can I open an OMF with Pro-Tools? (I know every other major DAW gives you this ability for free)

Please someone help.

Hi Gloria,

The only way to import OMF/AAF in ProTools LE 7.X.X is using DV Tools Kit II.

There is no crack or serial in Mac. I believe that there is a cracked way in ProTools on PC platform. But no way in Mac.

If you have a hackintosh (with dual boot: XP and OSX) or a PC you can import those OMF/AAF files into ProTools on Windows and them open those sessions in your ProTools Mac based if you feel more confortable on Mac.

Yes. Other DAWs have the import/export OMF/AAF option included. Not ProTools. Unfortunatelly.

Hey Pepe- thanks

...I know ...I saw the PC crack floating around but that doesn't help in my case...

I only have a PPC mac and no intel and no hackintosh

any other suggestions?

No.

I was thinking that a DVTool Kit II cost $1295 (US Dollars in USA).

A very cheap PC could cost $500 (US Dollars in USA).

So a suggestion is to purchase a simple PC, install in it your ProTools (the installation kit include the PC version of PT), install a DVTools Kit II cracked there to open your OMF/AAF with that PC. After that is done, quite XP, lunch OSX and edit in your Mac.

I have some ProTools on Mac and one on a Hackintosh (double boot, XP and Leopard).

There are some plugins that are only cracked on PC. If I need a prosses that it could only be done by one of those PC cracked plugins I switch to XP, do the task in that Plugin and then return to my beloved OSX to continue editing.

Wait a minute! Another suggestion!

Install in your Mac a cracked version of VirtualPC (that I guess is PPC compatible). Install into the XP partition PT and the cracked DVTool Kit II, etc, etc, etc.

What do you think?

Hey Pepe,

Thanks, I was thinking the same thing as your first suggestion. (my roomate has a PC but it doesn't have enough Ram and has that damned Vista on it (not compatable with Pro Tools) but maybe I could get my hands on a PC and do as you said...

One question with that, though...do you know if that DV Toolkit k for PC works?

As far as your second suggestion...I have Virtual PC, but Pro Tools can't run in that environment.

There is also a third option but I'm not sure about it...I can open an OMF with Logic (I have been using Pro Tools for over a decade and have never touched Logic, but I think I have a copy)....SO I'd have to take a crash course in Logic and then open the OMF there...but from that point I don't know what to do. Is there a format that you can save a logic session in that can be opened in Pro-Tools? (One thing I do not want to do is open an OMF session of a feature length movie, do a rough mix, and then bounce down 10 90 minute waves...I definitely do not have that kind of time)

Let me know what you think. Thanks for all your help.

"Do you know if that DV Toolkit k for PC works?"

That was said to me by my computer guru. As far as I can remember, he offered me to solve the same problem you have in that way.

Finaly I decided to pay that insane money to Digi and have the legal DV Toold Kit II.

"I have Virtual PC, but Pro Tools can't run in that environment"

Yes. Now that you mention it I remember that. Sorry.

And about the thrid option (Logic) ... that won't work because Logic would export OMF.

OMF is the way manufacturers thought to interchange data, EDL, media, etc, etc, etc.

So Logic would export the only thing that could be opened by other DAWs: OMF.

There is an old (and free) tool made by Digi called OMFTool but I guess it only open OMF I, not OMF II that is what you want.

Another option you have is to install Digitranslator (that require OS9) in any old Mac with that old system. Digitranslator is activated via serial number and I can give that serial.

Digitranslator could open OMF II and will convert it to ProTools, but it would be ProTools 5 session and Sound Designer II file format (I guess). From there you must open and convert to your ProTools software version and sound file format.

Tell me what you think, Gloria.

There are no crack exist for PC neither. (cracked PTLE and MusicToolKit do exist.)

Also, all you need is Digitranslator2 which is included in the expensive DVToolkitII.

But Digitranslator2 alone is not that expensive, you can get license for $150 on ebay,

it is listed all the time. you'll also need an ilok if you don't have one yet.

Cracked ilok software and legimate copy can be used together unlike syncrosoft protection.
