Glad to see that people here are making progresses. Strange things about the files i posted ... cause all those files are working fine for me before and after 10.5.2 and/or LGU ...

 

So, there will be no need for another installer ?

ive always been able to start macosx with a 2nd screen connected but its only mirroring, if you click detect displays in your panel, your OS will get a black screen, please test Zaiden. So no extended available where you can drag a file from one screen to the other, im pretty sure that isnt working.

Hallo, I use an Asus A8Jp Notebook. x1700/512MB/1400x900 (in XP)

 

Last I tested Righteyes 'Asus_F3JP_x1700_10.5.2___LGU.zip' (onKalyway 10.5.1 + 10.5.2 update and after the Leopard Graphics Update) with modifyed EDID

With getting your ATI X1700 card to work, you do not need to replace IONDRVSupport.kext, only files you need are 3 files:

 

ATINDRV.kext

ATIinject.kext

ATIRadeonX1000.kext

The Atiinject works and the backlight is off. :)

 

At the moment I use an Kalyway 10.5.2 with kernel 9.2.0.

 

I konfigured the remoteClient first, install the Atixxx.kexts and reboot. Black screen(works at 1440x900 without backlight!). Then I used the RemoteDesk (VNC) to delete the atiniject.kext and extensions.mkext. Reboot. Now the CI/QE works. Very important for TimeMachine and EyeTV. I can not change the Resolution and there are some Errors with the Maus-Cursor. With apple.com.boot.plist I can change the resolution to 1152x864.

Did you used the both kexts i provided for you? One of those must work.

I believe the kext provided by thehuan works better on another systems with x1700 than the one that works for my Asus G2P.

If you did not download the archive i provided for you with the 2 ATiinject.kext here you can download again. Also check the installer i made ... it is in my first post. Let me know if something is changed.

I try Both ATIinject.kext on righteye lastest post.Backlight still black.when i remove ATIinject.kext LCD bright control work fine (Fn +F5,F6)

 

Strang....

 

Now i wonder if there is Natit.kext in your /System/Library/Extensions Folder ... or the EDID you provided is the right one ... Also possible that your card to work different than for another Asus laptop ...

 

Did you plug an external monitor to see if is working ?

I have got the same laptop as Surban: A8jp.

 

I also managed to switch on QE. no it works (used ATINDRV.kext and ATIRadeonX1000.kext), but there is still problem with atiinject. kext. previously I could see that it's working with backlight off, now not sure it's working or not even without backlight. Computer boots on, it doesn't freeze.

 

I use property list editor to add my edid number, is that right? just in case my edid is.

I don't use the second monitor, so can't surely say that atiinject works (without backlight of course) , i delete the f

file from xp:) using macdrive (it gives me full access to apple disk) and it works as yours. QE works , but resolution 1152x864..

I'm running JaS 10.5.2 on my Thinkpad T60p (14", ATI V5250, 1400×1050)

 

During install I selected the LGU. Later I modified the ATIRadeonX1000.kext as described in cwsohn98’s post. I also added an ATIinject.kext I got from a member of forum.thinkpads.com with an EDID for my display.

 

QE/CI are enabled, resolution can be changed, no mouse tearing… almost perfect.

 

Except for one thing:

 

At home I use a Thinkpad Advanced Dock with an external display (Samsung Syncmaster 203B, 20", 1400×1050) connected to it. Usually I just take the notebook from it’s bag and put it on the dock – lid closed – and turn it on. When booting Linux I get an image on both, internal and external display. When booting Leopard I get the grey loading screen on both displays, the blue screen comes up and both displays go black. If I boot having the notebook’s lid open, the desktop shows on the internal display, but not on the external.

 

I somehow managed to get an distorted image on the external display using Fn+F8…

 

Since you guys have been talking about a newer ATIinject.kext I took one of those provided by righteye and put my EDID in it. Trying an external LCD here in the office, it still shows a distorted image on the external. I'm going to try it at home and see if it works.

 

Any other ideas which might help fixing this issue?

Hallo Righteye,

i tested all (3), backlight is always off.

 

With surban and diabolo1 I can see the LPScreen with a flashlight, 1440x900.

With Xess666 only stripes with the flashlight.

All (3) can conected with VNC/RemoteDesktop in 1440x900.

:(

But I'm sure some day it works...

 

What do you think about ATILead ?

Ok ... made a few other modifications on atiinject

 

I did not test the ATiLead ... but looks like working as in inject more advanced. When I got some time i'll test it and let you know.

Another thing: If this kexts are not working ... try to edit the info.plist and put the <key>AAPL,backlight-control</key><integer>1</integer> to <key>AAPL,backlight-control</key><integer>0</integer>

There is a info.plist minimized ... you can give a try but remember to replace the EDID with yours!
