If you've got through BrasilMac 9a581-patch.sh install & pc_efi_v3 (from Netkas & Toh ?)

do not apply 9a581PostPatch.sh but replace the necessary kexts

ALC889a (ALCinject+AppleHDA)

IOAHCI

AppleSMBIOS (from pc_efi_v3)

Thank's to all

EDIT: A new pkg will be online soon

I have P35-DS4 rev2.0 BIOS F8. All sata, all on ICH9R ports, no ps2 keyboard or mouse, just usb, and all I needed with pc_efi_v3 was dsmos.kext to boot. I then added NVinject for QE/CI and screen resolution, added ALCinject / AppleHDA for audio fix, and to get about this mac working AppleSMBIOS v1.0.12 from pc_efi_v3 download.

I don't get the error you describe in my log.

Does sleep and wake work for you? I've got the same board, but BIOS F5, and on wake, my USB mouse is wonky.

I've followed the EFI instructions - installed Brazilmac's Leapord release, then ran ./startupfiletool /dev/rdisk1s1 ./boot.

It appeared to work, but I just get endless reboots, once I'm finished.

Any suggestions ppl?

Same here. I followed the instructions exactly. Ran script. Made the replacements with dsmos, AppleSMBIOS, ACPIPlatform, vanilla kernel. Repaired permissions and either get endless reboots or black screen. Stumped. Processor is Intel e7650, Mobo is Asus P5W DH Deluxe. Poo.

Please can somebody help me on this one.

I've tried the Brazilmac postpatch too - only to fail during boot with the following Panic "Unable to find driver for this platform: \"ACPI\"

Bugger.

I thought that Gigabyte's P35-DS3R was meant to be one of the more straightforward installs but I just can't seem to get OSX going.

ANY any help would be much appreciated.

aliab, that sucks, sorry nothing constructive to say. Is DS3R ICH9 vs ICH9-R?

adrian.c with stock Apple kernel I can still sleep and wake (via power button) but no restart or shutdown. No usb problems on wake. What version of AppleSMBIOS.kext are you using w pc_efi_v3? BTW, a standard BrazilMac install w postpatch does not have restart + shutdown problem.

Antipodean, I am stumped! The 1st line and cure all is to repair permissions. 2nd to press F8 just before Darwin bootloader starts an enter "-v -f" the -f flag will rebuild your kext cache. The 3rd problem I tend to see is people didn't quite inject the boot code properly. If the bootloader loads (not stuck at _ on BIOS device screen) then I assume you have boot1h properly installed (if not check the BrazilMac instructions again and do the fdisk and dd dance) then for injecting the boot file with startupfiletool you really should do so when the target volume is unmounted, even better is to do that step from terminal on dvd. This means the contents of iamefi need be elsewhere, not on your target install. If startupfiletool is properly run you should get a confirmation that has 5 or 6 lines. I have DS4 with F8 BIOS, always a possibility that some quirks are due to the BIOS implementation.

Hackcat

Oh don't worry, i learn so much of you

my P35_DS3P is rev 1 with last bios F6

i use the AppleSMBIOS.kext from pc_efi_v3

i have no problem with shutdown but restart need a little help from Reset button

wake up with Power button

So IOAHCIFamily.kext is necessary for me, not a big problem for the moment

i am very happy with this mobo

Compressor crash but also on Mac Pro so waiting for 10.5.1

I didn't try yet NVinject do you think it's better than Natit

Thank's

Hi Aliab,

I got the exact same motherboard as you, even the same CPU!

But I can't seem to get it to work with vanilla (original) kernel!

Are you using vanilla kernel or are you using the BrazilMac kernel?

Brazil kernel md5: ebb48dfdeb07a187f71878dc348fd0df

Vanilla kernel md5: c4cdde3890b79ca3be765612b3cfbf94

I did a install from the terminal with the original DVD (osx-leopard105.dmg).

and replaced:

AppleSMBIOS.kext - from EFI package

+

AppleHDA.kext

ALCinject.kext

IONetworkingFamily.kext

(all from your package)

and added:

dsmos.kext

and deleted:

AppleIntelCPU....kext (get rid of HPET error message right?)

+repaired permissions

+reboot

Then I booted into single user mode and installed the EFI as it says in the ReadMe. Now I expected everything to work upon reboot but it doesn't!

I get stuck at a screen full with "mDNSResponder-errors"...you know what I mean if you've seen it.

What do you think causes my problem?

How is my install different from yours?

I'm not using pc_efi yet, but I have tried AppleSMBIOS v1.0.6 v1.0.11 and v1.0.12 from the pc_efi package.

Is EFI a prereq for working sleep?

BTW, where did you get F8 for P35-DS4? The latest I could find was F7?

PowerSupply

I use original kexts except

AppleSMBIOS from pc_efi_v3

IOAHCIFamily & dsmos.kext ( BrazilMAC)

Natit for video

ALC889a (ALCinject, AppleHDA) for sound

I have not met the problem about which you speak

I have the problem of reboot and sometimes shutdown like many have with EFI install, this problem is in relation with unmount the Home and the Net folder but no solution for the moment

If you want a more functionnal Leo i recommend the BrazilMAC way with 9a581PostPatch and my package from this thread http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...=20#entry497275

here the principal bios setting

P35-DS3P_bios_settings-4.jpg

Good luck!

Is EFI a prereq for working sleep?

Certainly not. A hacked kernel will mostly have better support for a hackintosh, but if your mobo + cpu are close enough to Apple computers, and using pc_efi + stock Apple kernel works well then using Software Update is unlikely to kill your hackintosh. You won't need to wait for a hacked kernel to appear. That is why I am using pc_efi despite the lack of working shutdown + reboot.

As for sleep, video card is the other factor. I have 7900GT, a sleep friendly video card. On DS4 both BrazilMac kernel and stock Apple kernel via pc_efi have working sleep for me. Haven't tried the speedstep/sse3 or ToH kernel.

Gigabyte DS4 rev2.0 support page including F8 BIOS

The latest BIOS updates do not suggest functionality fixes, just support for 45nm cpus. But Gigabyte is very poor at giving a comprehensive changelog between BIOS versions. A quick look and DS3R is at F7 now, DS3P still just at F6 (no Yorkfield compatibility update yet)

I tend to disable any hardware feature I don't use in BIOS. Have serial + parallel port disabled. Also have the Jmicron sata ports disabled as everything runs of ICH9R.

Good info, thanks. I'll definitely try disabling the JMicron ports, I'm not using them, or serial or parallel. I am suspecting it could be video card related, I'm using dual display with natit dual v0.02 and I've just noticed that the second head never turns back on from power saving mode when the computer resumes (it's an older Samsung 213T which takes forever to wake up from sleep anyways which is why I hadn't noticed before).

I've got a 7900 GS, not sure if it's sleep friendly or not. Perhaps not. :queen:

Tried unplugging the second monitor and after OSX modified screen resolutions and enabled only the primary monitor, the mouse exhibited the exact same behaviour as if I'd put the computer to sleep and then woken it up.

So I rebooted without the second monitor attached, and sleep/wake with proper mouse functionality works no problem.

Now to figure out if I can get this 7900 GS to work with dual DVI out extended desktop without natit dual.
