Leopard & Boot Time

Hi,

I've a 2,16 Macbook with clean installed Leopard. It's really running nice BUT its booting so much slower than Tiger. The time till the blue screen appears (desktop loading) is equal but then it takes 3-5x longer till the desktop is fully loaded!

Anyone else having this problem?

Are there any ways to slove this problem?

Thanks Andy

I also have the same mbp with a clean install. I have also noticed it a little slower when getting to the desktop. The Dock and icons seem to appear straight away but then the spinning ball has to do a few spins before i can start playing. I assumed it was time machine as the time machine icon usually appears just after the spinning ball stops.

was wondering, do you have time machine enabled ?

yes, I've time machine enabled!

But for me it's the blue screen that takes very long. When I see the desktop there is no spinning ball and I can work right away.

I don't understand why it's faster for some people and slower for others! Perhaps something during installation went wrong and should reinstall?

I didn't find anything in the console. Don't know whats going on! The only things I could find: Is there anything wrong that I could fix??

Definitely faster on my Macbook 2.0 C2D - it's never crashed, either, I dunno what everybody's problem is.

on my alu imac, leopard is much faster than tiger. the screen: "mac os x is starting up" (or something like that, i don't even remember ;)) never shows up! it just passes that!

but it loads the desktop a bit slower and i think that's because the new icons preview what's in the document and that needs a bit to load i guess.

what startup items do you have? it spends about 7 minutes between "unable to resolve startup time" and "launchd terminated". I think launchd is the problem.

Hate to burst your bubble, but they removed that from Leopard. Even on the slowest computer, it won't show up.
