Hi there ,

Ok I managed not long ago to use Leopard in my hackintosh , I was really disapointed for some things ,

( this is just my opinion ) , it wasn't fast as expected , some things like dashboard were a bit "sluggish" as

some people here mentioned , other was some bugs with Disk Utility ( it just wouldn't repair permissions ) ,

other that maybe only happened with me and isn't of course the OS's fault is , someone managed to use

Atheros ( in my case AR5005G ) etc. wireless in it ( IO80211Networking.kext ) ? It does recognize as airport

, but it doesn't connect as with Tiger ( and yes I did all things possible and yes I changed to en1 etc. at

NetworkInterfaces ) . Another thing , that maybe it's just a feeling that I have , it has a gorgeous interface

but only a half of the functionality I expected ( did I mention the damn kernel panics people are having

with Airport ? Yup , and that isn't hackintosh ) .

I know it's the "first" build etc. , but whatever ...

So , what's your toughts about Leopard ?

Regards ,

Chaos

I agree, how can you be bitching about leopard on a Hackintosh? Seriously...

I'm running a first-gen Macbook Pro Core Duo (2Ghz) with 2GB of RAM and Leopard flies, it's much faster than Tiger.

I really can't believe anyone would actually post something like this knowing full well they're using a hacked version of leopard pigeon holed to run on X86.

Leo sits on a jet airplane here for me... one major thing about hackintoshes, if u dont have QE, CI or CA, dont even bother running os x86.... cos ur system will be sluggish... and dont {censored} about how sucky leo is cos u HACK it to run on ur system.... dont ever EXPECT any drivers to work out of the box and dont EXPECT every single piece of hardware to work like it would in tiger....

Ok , I think people didn't understand what I meant so I'll explain myself , first about the hardware support ,

of course I won't complain because I'm running on generic hardware that sometimes even wasn't suppose

to work ( even thou mine config. isn't that far from not-the-latest MacBook ) , this "sluggish" thing I talked

about wasn't only me , people with real Mac were having the same problem , when I said about the functio-

nality hardware wouldn't matter naturally and the only time I said about hardware support I said that of course

it wasn't the OS X fault ( I hoped people would read that ) .

About buying a Mac , of course I would like to and I would but here where it costs let me see ... 3x times

more than in US etc. ( I really mean it , if there is an iMac is 1200 and something here , the last I saw

here was 3000 ) , I have access to black market ( as almost anyone here ) but Apple is more difficult

to find for sale .

Thanks ,

Chaos

I'm running on generic hardware that sometimes even wasn't WAS NEVER suppose

to work AND RECIEVED ABSOLUTELY NO TESTING AT APPLE

Saw some mistakes in your post, and corrected them for you, doesn't matter how "close" your setup is to any mac, its still a massive pile of hack and therefore you have no right to complain about anything.

Save up or get a job,

on the brightside at least leopard installed for you, my leopard DVD was corrupt and it hosed my tiger install so I spent the day backing up and resinstalling but I'm still not bitching about a new OS on day one.

No -We understand.

You are disappointed because your hac doesn't perform the way you would like. Therefore, Leopard isn't all that great.

You're wrong.

There will always be problems when installing a new OS. I never understand why people do an "upgrade" rather than an erase and install or at least archive and install.

If you have a supported real Apple Mac ........ and do a erase and install from a clean install dvd. It should work well. If it doesn't ..... you have a legit complaint. Otherwise - you are simply wrong.

  • 11 months later...

I have to chime in on the Tiger/Leo upgrade thing.

I have a 5 year old G4 MDD 2003 PowerMac that I recently upgraded to Leopard. It has the original 64 Mb NVidia card and 2 gigs of RAM. With a 1.6 Ghz PPC CPU, it's not exactly a racehorse. How does it work? Fine - I did the 10.5.5 upgrade and yeah, the graphics tend to stutter a little but otherwise it's fine and I love the functionality of Leopard.

As for my hackintosh, I'm glad it's as good as it is, and it wouldn't be anywhere near that good if it weren't for this wonderful community. I have a couple of minor gripes (sleep, audio input) but otherwise it's great.

Would I buy a new Mac if I could afford it? Absolutely!!

  • 2 weeks later...

To all you hard core apple fan's..(Which I am one myself!)

You need to realize that all the hardware in a mac is generic itself...None of the hardware thats in a mac these days is made by apple...LOL....even the EFI chips that are in mac are not...They are made by INTEL just like the Motherboards are...Don't believe me look it up for yourself...(Google is you friend so is Wiki) So just think about that,,,,all apple actualy makes now on their computers is the casing...LOL....Apple is now selling Cheap overpriced PC'S.....LOL
