Conroe Mac
I haven't read anything absolute about a definitive time. One person said it will be available Friday, but we'll all have to wait and see. I'm sure that there are people working on it. Leopard just leaked and it's not even available to the public. I know it's exciting but give it time!
cyp75
For now, the main question is to know if Leopard GM is patchable with ease by simply reproducing the same techniques as those employed to run every beta release of leopard (I don't know them as I've not installed any beta release). If someone there, and the best would be one of the men actually working on osx86 release, could point out the difficulties of the process, what is still lacking, and why not give a release hour with a great countdown on his website , it would be great. EDIT : First answer here : http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=67562 Pointing here : http://forum.osx86scene.com/viewtopic.php?...p;sk=t&sd=a So, it works, maybe BrazilMAC would come and discuss it also here ? BTW, good work guys, it is worth a try. Apparently for those like me who have never install any leo's beta, the only problem is to gather all the needed ressources from previous patching. For now the patcher script is shared, we all wait for the kernel and needed kexts.
Guest bikedude880
Okay, I personally can't wait to post this any longer. Been running this for a few days (i.e. since Sunday) without any issues. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b252/sil...9a581/9a581.jpg A DVD is in the works (but not by me)... The process is not too horribly difficult (once you get past the patching of the kernel, not what I do:P) EDIT: I will not send you any files, please do not ask for them. Just wait 2 more days
greekgoat91
keep up the good work bikedude, i just wish you'd post it sooner. I know it sounds epic to release an x86 version the same day as the actual release, but it sounds much cooler to have an x86 version before the release. Guest bikedude880
Anyone know if the DVD will support AMD processors? or possibly how long of a wait us AMD users will have? AMD support (from when I last hear [2 hours ago] is nearing completion and will be included on the final DVD. AMD/Intel SSE2 user rejoice! It will also run on your systems (though I am not sure of the status on minimum memory requirements...) keep up the good work bikedude, i just wish you'd post it sooner. I know it sounds epic to release an x86 version the same day as the actual release, but it sounds much cooler to have an x86 version before the release. I wish I could've posted this sooner too, but there were some minor complications that I had to deal with... In regards to release date, we are working nearly day and night to release with Apple and I doubt that we could've released it any sooner (btw, it's still a single layer DVD and [if all goes well], will contain all the packages [minus Xcode] that the Apple DVD has. Better to release it later and not have any big bugs present, then to release it early and get "OMG IT'S NOT WORKING WHY WHY WHY". (Sure, that will happen anyway, but I hope not as much ) Just, if possible, please release this on Usenet, that would be a big help :-D
thefinalprophecy
Looks great!!! Can't wait to try it out! Do you think that most hardware that was compatible with 10.4.8 through .10 will be compatible with your build of 10.5?
kocoman
Can a 'patch' be release to the current GM one instead of another 6gig to reget..?
marliwahoo
Can a 'patch' be release to the current GM one instead of another 6gig to reget..? This would be a good idea. If not, if i can get a copy, I'll be glad to seed it in a torrent.
Guest bikedude880
Who said anything about a 6GB isntall DVD for your beige box? And why would you regret it? It's not going to be a patch, rather a single layer DVD.
Synaesthesia
In the meantime, Conroe Mac has alerted me to the manual guide to patching the 9A581 (Final release) dvd image... Please note this patch is manual, and SSE3 Intel only. Also I don't know how to patch drivers like Natit, GMA 950, Ati etc... ( i guess you use 10.4.x packages)
errandwolfe
In relation to the above discussed guide....it now appears there is a file pack that goes along with it. You will find the location at the above referenced guide or you might search for Brazil while cruising a certain Bay.

ZachMG
so lemme get this straight, the hacking community is releasing the true OSx86 version of the leopard final release the same day apple is releasing the final release? If so this is friggin sweet, but i doubt they will ignore us much longer. ZMG
olofd
why should they care about us? for every osx user apple gains marketprofits. Say they stop osx86 from being used in 10 years or so, they would gain a hole lot more costumers then, then they will if they end the osx86 scene now. They want OSX to be huge before they will start trying to control it with piracy protection and so on. We should not forget that even if osx86 steels software and many of us in this forum don't pay for it, it's very unlikley that a big procent of us in this forum would even have the money to buy a real mac. osx86 is inspiring people to use osx right now. And that is free promo for apple. People get used to their systems and so on.. For me it's very clear that Apple see us as not enemys rather Expermenters that slowly promotes osx for them. If they diden't we would have apple after us already. I have huge respect for this. That Apple doesn't only see the fast money they lose from us. Rather they choose to see the gain they can have from us, Fighting us right now would cost them more than it would gain them. My opionion, sorry for the bad english. //Olof

MaidenFan
Can anybody report on the hardware compatibility if they have it running? I'm looking at installing using the guide, but I don't want to trash my Tiger install if it won't work - I'm running an Acer Aspire 5630 with an Intel Core 2 Duo T5500, GMA950 graphics and 3945ABG wireless card. Sound is Realtek RTL883 (from memory, I could be wrong) and wired NIC is Broadcom BCM440x. There's also an Acer OrbiCam (which is just a rebranded Logitech camera) integrated into the lid, but this has never worked under Tiger - neither has the wireless. I realise it's very early days for Leopard on X86, but I really want to try it out
BrazilMAC
Hey Maiden, If you have a spare disk, you can try out the guide without having to worry about your tiger install.
