When I upgraded from XP to Vista and Boot Camp 1.2, I was not able to reboot back into OS X, so I decided to just use the laptop as a Vista machine and killed the OS X partition and used it as additional storage for the Vista partition. Since then, the laptop reboots at least once every time I use it. Previously I was running smbFanControl on OS X, so I would set the fans to a higher speed then boot into Vista. Now it seems that Vista is not capable of controlling the fans at all. My temp runs from 82-95, depending on what is running on the mach (core temp) - which is just a crazy temperature. Today I installed the latest BC 1.4b drivers hoping that they had fixed the fan issue, but they hadn't. I re-installed Input Remapper again, and again the fan monitor tells me that the fan RPM is zero: Fan 0 | Speed: 0.0 Target: 6000.0 Min: 6000.0 Max: 6000.0 Safe: 1200.0 Forced: 0 Fan 1 | Speed: 0.0 Target: 6000.0 Min: 6000.0 Max: 6000.0 Safe: 1200.0 Forced: 0 Anybody have any idea why my fans wouldn't be spinning *at all*. I have read tons on overheating problems with Windows on BC, but not seen much about fans not running at all.. Is there a way I could force the fans? I tried everything I could in Input Remapper, and ended up having to underclock the CPU and GPU (again) just to keep the laptop cooler and battery life up. I have no idea how I completely killed the fans or what is going on, would really appreciate some help so that I can re-clock my CPU/GPU back to being a full MBP, not a budget crappy laptop. ps. does Input Remapper use the same ACPI messages to control the fan as what smbFanControl does? eg. is there any point to booting into OS X and trying smbFanControl? Also, are there any plans to extend Input Remapper (which probably needs a new name - considering it does a lot more) for over/underclocking and adjusting voltages? A very cool feature would be to set a threshhold for max temp (eg. 70C) and then autoamtically set the clock, voltage etc. to keep it to that temprature or power consumption level thanks in advanced Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Or rather the right one would spin at around 2000, the other at 0 no matter, also in OSX! Resetting the smc fixed the situation. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319 I am in honesty not fully aware if the situation arrived before or after I reinstalled 1.4 -- I seemed to have no luck assigning shortcuts. Now for the reasons there are a host of suspects ... : * vmware fusion * logitech utility * Rightmark CPU clock utility * apple (although I haven't made any updates, it has been working for at least three months.)
