I don't know if Leopard supports your HP laptop. You can try to make it support your laptop with a lot of work, time, and effort, and it will still be buggy. Unfortunately, that's because it's a PC laptop. However, you mentioned you would like to use Mac lifelong. I'd suggest selling your HP and getting a real Mac. Leopard will function perfectly, as it was intended. And it will be the final version on it too!

Of course, for installation instructions, I've found that this site often offers some help.

i suggest try to install Tiger OSX86 on your laptop just for the moment until leopard release and proper patch or DVD is release, im not sure if it's fully compatible hardware and the only way to find out is to install.. of course it can't match real macs but i know some guys bought macbooks and ended up hating it.. why? you can fry eggs on it.

Like many have said, if u want to test leopard, your best bet is on a real mac. Any x86 version floating around there are going to be really buggy and a little hardware specific. If u want OSx86, try tiger (10.4) instead. Grab an uphuck or JaS distro.
