See it here. Essentially a blue version of the magenta space backdrop, but looks so, so much better.

It must be found. Even though I'm buying Leopard client and have no use for server, I'll torrent it just to get that picture.

Of course, anyone who has access to it could post an icon-and-picture pack of the stuff we all want. Hint, hint. :)

I quickly edited and erased what I originally wrote because I figured it would hurt someone's poor little feelings. Here was the original message:

"Effin' stupid. Apple gives you all the tools you need to change colors in pictures. Do it yourself, you lazy bum."

I thought it was a little harsh for you guys. I mean, most of you guys are soft-hearted pirates still living with yer mums. Yarr!!

There is a delete button. :D

Meanwhile, tools don't make me a graphic artist. And besides, why try to fake it when you could just use the original - the one that likely was created by a graphic artist. I've done a decent job in Photoshop Elements, but it's just not quite the same.

And I'm not sure what having an aesthetic sense has to do with age? Quite frankly, the comment makes me wonder more about your maturity than anything else I've seen here.

Too bad that it's too late to change Leopard's (non-server) default background, including intro video, to blue. A simple hue adjustment really makes it look much better. But yeah, their entire site is full of Leopard screenshots showcasing purple backgrounds.

Purple for OS X is probably worse than the original idea of going with a grassy green theme. A shift back to a traditional blueish background is much better. It's a lot easier on the eyes.

I got one question tho. Does somebody know how to change the login wallpaper in Leopard?

I know how it's done in the previous version, but not in this one. (without 3th party software!!!)

Just replace the DefaultDesktop.jpg in /System/Library/CoreServices with the image you want to be used as the background for the login window. I would have thought that being named DefaultDesktop meant that it was used as the default for new accounts, that does not seem to be the case.

I think that the blue background looks great, especially compared to the purple one. Now all we need is for someone to come up with a replacement icon for the Desktop Toolbar Icon, System Preferences, etc. So that we never need to see the purple again.

  • 6 months later...

ok so my investigative skills, poking around the leopard server disc with pacifist, tells me that there is no "legit" leopard blue auroa. some one just changed the contrast of the magenta one. not that this really matters to any of you, since there is a blue version on the net already, i just wanted to peek inside the server disc, and grab the "real" file...
