some guy on demonoid has a video card like mine and said that he used some kexts to get video working correctly. Plus 10.4.6 is the only version that seems to work with my VIA ethernet (i think, not actually tried yet)

but i'll get my cable tomorrow so i can try it.

PS

CPU-Z says that my chipset is intel i915P. does that need patches?

and it says that my mobo is an ms-7046. is that compatible? the dvd boots fine natively.

EDIT: i was looking at the kexts in vmware and found a kext called "AppleIntel915.kext". and then a bunch more with "GA" and "GLDriver" before the ".kext" could that be my chipset's driver?

maybe i'll post a screenshot of the kext list.

EDIT2: i just found "AppleVIA.kext" and "AppleVIAATA.kext"

one thing

what kexts handle graphics and ethernet?

i archived all of the kexts then put the zip on my windoze desktop so i could find them without vmware

EDIT: nevermind, i'll see what happens w/ a normal install

i really appreciate all the help

edit2: skip the graphics driver. i found a universal installer for all geforce cards

You may still have to select a patch. Choose an Intel SSE3 patch if there is one.

Yep, I changed by sig. Like it? You get the user bars pics from either www.userbars.org or www.signaturebar.com

Download up to 10 and save them in a folder. Then go to http://www.signaturebar.com/animate/ and select all the userbars you made to animate them into a single user bar!

I L O V E it.

  • 2 weeks later...

hey guess what!

i was google-ing for usb boot and found the answer to my usb boot problem!

i had the usb-zip boot option, and that is the correct one!

i have award bios settings

finally.

going to use the titan drivers

do those go on after i install

like -

install without titan

then boot from dvd and only install titan?

PS

windumb is sooooo dumb. it's been to slow for me to really do anything online except download torrents

so ive been surfin' the web with backtrack2

(hacking maybe, i got the REAL ip address of runescape. no seriosly :P)

i have XP MCE SP2

probably because of all the um cough*cracked* cough stuff on my pc

my bios didn't have the usb-zip option, but it had usb-fdd and usb-cdrom (that cant be it :P)

plus, there are no more updates for my bios

I have the Medion3 Director 5100

fast w/ linux, slowish w/ windoze

would be great to have imovie (not in the ungodly-slow pearpc)

THE LAST HOPE:

i found this $200 computer on tigerdirect that is fully supported by 10.4.8 (i even has a DVD+/-RW DL drive and a 3.5 ghZ CPU)

get this 256 PNY nvidia card w/ titan drivers

There are guides on InsanelyMac to build a fully working hackintosh for $200. This thread is a couple years old but check it out:

Build Your Own Mac for $199

I'd say thats a pretty good deal. Some of the parts you can't buy anymore but I'm sure that there are newer alternatives for about the same price.
