quixos
have you tried replacing the Leopard OpenGL.framework and GMA kexts, with those from Tiger? remember to back up your Leopard OpenGL.framework somewhere you can access it from single user mode, in case you need to restore it. antic
I have 9A527 on my vaio with gma950, Q/E not supported but was working under Tiger.Help me please If you are refering to Kalyway's instal then gma950 CI & QE are both supported. I have them both from the instal disk without having to do any mods. Make sure the only graphic driver you install is gma950. paulicat
The fix for GMA950 adapters is to NOT install the GMA950 driver package during installation and just get the AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext from Tiger. In case no one has it handy: http://www.hostclip.com/dl/ba0d8d8b5af03e5d727c221a62f07c81 Now, if you've already installed the GMA950 package from the dvd, use pacifist to install all the AppleIntelGMA950*** kexts/bundles/plugins from the MacOSX_Leopard_9a527.pkg on the DVD located in /System/Installation/Packages - Note, only the ones with 950 in the name, make sure you use the framebuffer I linked to here. Good luck. Paulicat

paulicat
For the record, this is the process I just did last night, I first installed the gma950 during the dvd setup and I didn't have CI/QE. This is how I fixed it. If you're doing a fresh install, its even easier, just don't pick the gma950 package during installation and copy over the kext I linked to after reboot. You'll be able to boot in after installation, you just won't have resolution choices until you replace with the one I linked to. Give it a shot, it will work Paulicat
thysm00
Thankx Paulicat, I tried your method and it's even bettter for me, i didn't choose anything on first install and...QE, CI, resolution changing (1680X1050) without any hack! So everything i need is working for me under leo, i think i'm gonna use this one as main os. Just one thing, i get some artifacts sometimes i'll try the framebuffer you posted anyway. Once more thank you Paulicat!
marliwahoo
Thanks Paulicat. I'll try it when I get home.
paulicat
Hey glad it worked. For the record I get the artifacts too with the one I posted, I hope its just leopard bugs. I'll look into the framebuffer kext thats part of the real install package to see if its the same version that I posted above. Oh, one other thing I noticed, AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext makes my core2duo run hot. Removing it shaves about 10C degrees of my temp. marliwahoo
Yep - just replaced the gma950 kexts with the original leopard and the framebuffer from tiger. It seems to be working and I have ci and qe. Thanks !
snackole
I tried the same with gma915 but it,s not working. Any Ideas?
thysm00
Paulicat, you're right, i noticed the temp increased a lot, thank yu for pointing out the kext, i tried both framebuffer kexts and i did not notice any difference at all, same artifacts. And i don't remember getting those artifacts on my macbook with the previous versions of leo (i did not test the 9A527 yet). Just one strange thing, it recognizes my cpu as core2duo, but the frequency displayed is 1,2Ghz instead of 1,8. I remember a similar problem under 10.4.10 due to fsb recognition, but i suspect the ram (800Mhz) to be the problem. My mainboard supports only 667Mhz Ram and the system sees it at 800Mhz (it's the first time, tiger did see 0Mhz...). Maybe also it's due to this AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext, i try to remove it and post results.
paulicat
Both framebuffer kexts were the same version. I'm not familiar with how Kalyway built this dvd, but its definitely a bit of a mess. My filesharing is completely broken, but I suspect that this is a kalyway specific problem and not a leopard problem. Good work nonetheless Kalyway.
