There doesn't seem to be one on the iPod Touch ads, yet, if it gets Wi-Fi, and has Safari, shouldn't we theoretically be able to have the same email program as the iPhone? Pretty sure that's one of the standout features that will be part of my decision to get one or not.

I read on another board that the exact same apps can be installed on both touch and iphone so theoretically, mail as well as the other missing apps like notes etc. should be able to be installed. Hope its for real anyway, mail would be cool. In my opinion apple should have included mail etc. Im mean whats the point of internet and no mail etc. Why implement PDA like functionality and not go the whole way. Probably just to boost itunes sales from the wifi store im presuming. I think theres a good posibility that apple are to update with more apps in the future anyway, just look at all the empty space waiting to be used on the home screen. :)

Edit: Just had a thought, im presuming that emails received on the iphone are synced back over when it is docked, since the touch is not meant to have emails, im presuming this wouldnt work.

Along with email, I'd like to see a full fledged calendar app, with the ability to actually add appointments, or at least to-dos. iChat would be amazing on both the iPhone and iPod Touch, but there are already quite a few web apps that do a good job.

well, the fact that they are so similar means that this method probably does work.

As for the email, get a gmail account and pull in all your pop emails (even from multiple addresses. Then, you can send and recieve mail from many accounts all from one interface. Furthermore, you can add this new gmail account to your mail client the number of times that you have seperate emails, and send and recieve mail locally without ever having to worry about outgoing email servers!

Works flawlessly for me...

How can you call the iPod touch just an mp3/mp4 player? It is also, by Apple, an internet communicator, and I communicate alot over tcp/ip using EMAIL.

They added internet for the Wi-fi store and added in Safari and YouTube as a bonus.

Umm...I'm sorry. I have an MP3 player. It's got lots of storage and I really like it.

What I want is the internet capabilities. I have a $2000 MacBook Pro. I don't want to carry that everywhere I go. Now what happens when I'm standing around @ school, and I don't want to whip out my lappy? Boom! I pull out my PDA. That has internet, mail, calender, music player....

Get the idea?
