vmware or parallels with vista and RAID AHCi mode

I am having a problem with running vmware or parallels on the "boot camp" drive (or just a native install on a separate hard drive) on my hackintosh. I can get it to work the first time, but then when i reboot vista it kills the drive, i get an error that the drivers have changed and vista cannot boot. I cannot run the virtual machine or the native boot, i get the same result. I think it is because of the AHCi drivers and how the virtual machine emulates the hard drive as an IDE drive, but am not sure. I would like to retry using vmware and set the boot camp drive to emulate using SCSI but i cannot get it to boot the virtual machine that way.

any suggestions?

I really want to have this machine be able to native boot to either drive or run in coherence/unity mode if desired in mac os. I have installed vista about 10 times and killed the install all ten with a virtual machine.

I also wonder if this would work if i set my bios to RAID=IDE but i really dont want to run it that way as it is so much slower.

I have it set to dual boot using the easyBCD method of bcd editing (very simple) and that is great, not i just need to get a virtual machine all working and i will be set.

thanks
