macboots Posted August 11, 2007 Share Posted August 11, 2007 Hi, I just purchased a brand new imac (new models), 20" one (the pimped one). The thing is that, when i plugged in my WD 500gb external drive via firewire 400, the drive doesn't turns on. So, I tried pluggin it via usb, and it did got recognized, so I dont think its a drive failure (also used it before on a macmini via firewire). Also, I check under system profile and in "firewire" apparently shows only one, the 800 one. So I believe my brand new imac is a defective one. to make sure of this, can someone with a new imac post a screen or check if the two firewires drives are displayed under system profile please? that way I can compared with mine to see. thanks in advance, and if anyone knows what might be happening, feedback is much appriciated.
