"This software cannot be installed on this computer"

I have a macbook core duo 2.0 early 2006 model. I bought it used from ebay. It was running tiger when i first got it. I wanted to wipe the drive and start over fresh. I put the 10.4.9 disc in which was what was given to me with the macbook. When i tried installing i got the message "this software cannot be installed on this computer". I wiped the hard drive thinking that would solve the problem and it did not. So now i have a macbook that can't install osx. I am writing this on xp which happened to install fine on the macbook. it has the latest firmware MB110061.B03.

What is all the writing on your disk? Sounds like a PPC disk, or a burnt disk, or a purchased-from-apple Tiger CD. (purchased Tiger disks are PPC only, not intel, you need the disk that came with an intel mac.)

Easy to download or borrow from a fellow mac user. It's not wrong i don't think, as you have an intel mac and it would have come with a real CD when purchased new, PLUS you can't buy an intel Tiger DVD from apple at this stage...

Only guessing that's your problem, tell me whats written on the top of the disk.

PS, you got the bootcamp 1.3 drivers loaded under XP? XP on Macbook Pro not much fun without these drivers...

the disc is a dvd and it says macbook mac osx install disc 1 mac os version 10.4.9 aht version 3a128 disc version 1.0 2z691-5993-a. This software is part of a hardware bundle purchase-not to be sold separately.

So i know this did come with a macbook, maybe the newest one out. i have the old macbook. it is an intel disc i believe because i am not getting a kernel panic. In the event log installation checks fail time after time. I only have the network driver installed under xp its the only one i could find on the net with my phone. I do not know any other mac users, and the apple store said i need to order one from 1800aplcare. I can't use a downloaded version because i am running xp and can't burn the .dmg file.

You could, umm... download the DMG, burn to a disk on the PC as a pc type disc with the DMG just as afile, go into your local apple store with this disk and a blank DVD and burn it off there... hehehe. Seriously though, maybe find someone near you via this forum who can help you out with the loan of a disk or something. Or atleast ask the eBay guy for a copy if you haven't already.

I feel your pain, you have a Macbrick Pro, and you need it to be a Macbook Pro!
