Quick question about wireless?

I have an HP dv8000t laptop with the "unsupported" Intel 3945ABG wireless card. However, I am running JAS 10.4.8 in VMWare 6.0 with NAT. Now, if I add "e1000" to the vmx, it shows up in OS X but says the cable is disconnected (RED). Basically, my question is, even if I have an unsupported wireless card, won't the VMWare virtual adaptor still work and connect me to the unsupported wireless card giving me connectivity? If so, then what am I doing wrong? Here's what I've already tried:

1.) Changing VMNet8 to match my local network, which I can then ping from my host OS (Windows Vista).

2.) Changing to bridged mode and bridging to my 3945ABG.

3.) Assigning IP information statically in OS X.

Can anyone help me out?

THANKS!
