ajkst1
I fixed my problem! I booted into my install CD and copied the dsmos.kext into the Extensions folder and copied the mach_amd to the root and renamed it to mach_kernel. It does in fact work. For some unknown reason, About This Mac doesn't work. Here's the proof!:
mujahid7ia
How exactly do you use this installer? Do you need to manually backup any kexts etc? Do you have to reinstall graphics drivers before restarting (after running 10410 updater)?

quasar_x
Installed on my laptop, not sure if loginwindow.app is failing to load or if it is a graphics issue, but I am stuck at a blue screen. Can someone please give me advice on how to diagnose and hopefully fix this issue. Graphics are GMA950. Help please. Same problem here, also with a GMA950 (Inspiron E1505/6400). Couldn't fix/repair it no matter what I tried. Went back to 10.4.8 for now.

steeple
works well here. i did have to boot into safe mode and do some maintainance routines before i could get a clean boot. it really doesn't like the ACPICPUThrottler.kext, causes a panic, but it never worked for me anyway. intel950 graphics seem fine.it's added screen rotate i'd urge anyone having problems to try safeboot, and use a system cleaner like DoktorKleanor or applejack
Agro
I was a little concerned when the installer bombed out at the end, but so far all is good 10.4.10, and seems a little more responsive than the jas 10.4.8 I was running before. macfreak12
were you able to upgrade from 10.4.8 to 10.4.10 directly?
ajkst1
The update will update your machine from 10.4.8 (8.8.1) to 10.4.10 (8.10.1). My machine blew up when I attempted to go to 10.4.9 (8.9.1), so this seems a little bit better. Isn't there some weird fix for "About This Mac"? Captain Spekkie
I have updated from JaS 10.4.8 to 10.4.10 directly and it worked. Some points tough, after the reboot sound was gone, but replacing the kext file and installing te driver with installer worked for me. So sound was back, but then i noticed that the battery was gone as well. The problem is that i dont know what to do to get it back. It was initially installed with the JaS 10.4.8 install dvd during installation of OS X itself. But other then that, it works great. One Tip for the people who want to install this, make sure you have all rour drivers arround UPDATE: I searched the forum and found an PowerManagement file and replaced my system file with that one, and yes it worked again. Man am i glad that this forum exists

brandon_r87
Hello, I tried using this, and am now unable to boot. I had already upgraded to 10.4.10, but had not update the kernel. I decided to use this to upgrade the kernel the easy way, but it turned out far from that. It fails booting at this point: Configuring kernel extensions /etc/rc: line 226: 26 Illegal instruction kextd /etc/rc: line 250: 28 Illegal instruction /usr/libexec/FirewallTool /etc/rc: line 258: 29 Illegal instruction launchctl load /Library/LaunchDaemons /System/Library/Launch Daemons /etc/mach_init.d /etc/rc: line 258: 30 Illegal instruction SystemStarter ${VerboseFlag} /etc/rc: line 260: 31 Illegal instruction /usr/sbin/update Is there anything I can do besides reinstall?
