This is what it says in the description:

I've installed this DVD and as it's the first time installig OS X in a non-mac machine, it seems to install just fine but no luck after restarting. Either the circle spins forever just appearing, or dumps a kernel panic.

I'm still thrying though. I have a lot of experience in installing stuff over machines that doesn't supposed to have THAT installed, like beige G3s with Tiger and I know it takes time, patience, and a lot of trial and error so I'm not giving up, but as far as my experience tells, I'm not finding the right combination of settings for my machine.

It's a Toshiba laptop. Pentirum 4 1.8 GHz (SSE 2, right?, right?) NVidia GeForce Go 4200, no wireless chipset. Pretty much a XP abandoned laptop which I'm experimenting with.

In my macs I always can press option, C, S, or V after the tone to make it do alternate boot modes. How do I do that in a non-mac PC?

Another thing is, what kernel is the installer using to show itself? I'm happy if I just see the OS X desktop and just the normal apps. It will be for email and browsing, you know?..

Sorry for the offtopic but I already have a JaS 10.4.9 (updated from .8).

Do you know how can I install (and where do I get) PowerManagement.bundle, Intel Speedstep, CoreDuoTemp. I have a Core Duo SEE3 CPU.

I did it. When loading in low res text mode, a lot of kexts shows at very high speed. After switching to hi-res text mode it hangs after saying "using nnn buffers and nnn cluster IO buffers headers... Nothing after that.

Chat could be?

have you deleted the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext with the script? are you sure that your cpu is sse2? and you may use AppleACPIPlatform kext from 10.4.8, try these and restart your machine with -v (verbose) to see the error messages ex:waiting for root device..

Yes I did delete the Power Management kernel extension with the script (you just select it to in the install).

I'm not sure if the cpu is SSE2, isn't it supposed all pentium 4s to be? I did some research and it seems to but I coudl be wrong.

AppleACPIPlatform is listed under 10.4.9 for AMD so I didn't think about selecting it, but I'll try.

I've looked a lot about some thread discussing these matters. There's not one here. If I get away with it and make this laptop usable with OS X I'll definitively write a guide about it. It's needed.

I tried installing on two pc's. One is a gateway with vista and a core 2 duo. I followed the instructions to install 10.4.9 in the installation guide for dual boot vista on both at osx86project.org. First pc has a problem when it is loading the osx install disc it just comes up with that waiting for root thing and the other one gets into the install and when i get to the part where it asks to choose a disk to install it on there are no drives listed to install on. Anyone help please? Or where can i find jas 10.4.8 or 9 to try those i can only find 10.4.6.

Well, I installed this on a system with an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard and ATI X1300 512mb AGP video card. Here-to-fore, I have not figured a way to update this system to 10.4.9, but this install disk works fine after choosing the proper kernel for this system (I used the univ.2 kernal from May 2007). BTW, the Intel SSE2 Kernel worked for me but would not allow me to access the "About this Mac" button. Each time I pressed it, it would go through the keyboard verification sequence. All seems to work well now, including sound and video with QE/CI support (have never been able to solve the slightly annoying pixelation problem with this video card), and it took all the updates from Apple.

The only problem I seem to be having is when I connect to my network. Every other version I've installed, I've had immediate access to both the internet and my network. Internet works fine with this, but whenever I try to access a network drive, I get a box that says 'aliases' need to be fixed and I can't get through this. Anyone have any ideas of a kext I should have added or one that needs to be tweaked? Thanks.

Edit: I don't want to mislead anyone with this post. I still can only change screen resolutions by adjusting the "Graphics Mode" key in com.apple.Boot.plist. Currently running at 1600x1200x32. Sorry for not being more precise up above.

Not working too good for me. Installation went fine the first time, but never would boot the Login Window. So I erased and tried again. Now, no matter what I do, it gets stuck in the "Finalizing Installation" sequence of the installer (doesn't freeze or lock up...just will never make it to Optimizing).

I had that problem a while ago. You need to find a patched version of Samba to get it to work. I believe it was a framework, but I don't recall exactly...

Works almost perfectly with my machine from the first. I'm using universal kernel (with AMD SSE3 kernel i have Kernel panic).

For now I have next problems: SATA support, Network card is not recognized and "About this Mac" doesn't work.

This is my configuration:

CPU: Athlon64 AM2 3000+

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-M55Plus-S3G

Memory: 2GB Dual channel

Video: Club3D X1600Pro (resolution: 1280x1024)

Sound: Realtek ALC882

HDD: ATA 160GB
