To make it easier I'm going to compile the kext's for ALC860,ALC880, and ALC882 so it will work with all Intel HD Audio. I may need help getting the ven and dev ids. If you've got them please post them here.

Hi, skippyretard, my computer is a m31ei computer, it has intel 945chipset, i think it should be ich7, but when come to the device manager in the winxp system, it show me the vendor id is 0x10ec0861.

after modify the appleazalia.kext, i can see the volume icon on the taskbar, but there is still no any noise from the speaker, and i can not see any information on build in audio card in the system information window.

I also can not active the build in mic either.

I hope this information will be usefull for you and you can get a new kext for us.

Best regards,

Afei

Hello, I am new in this. I've just installed Mac into my laptop. I followed a post and I worked out to have audio in my realtek alc880. But I haven't input device. So I was changing things. Now I neither audio, nor appleazalia.kext.

What can I do??

Thanks.

REALTEK -> VEN 10EC, DEV 0880

Hi,

I got Realtek ALC880 onboard sound working for my ECS 915 M5-GL motherboard. This is what I did -

1. Backed up both AppleHDA.kext, AppleAzaliaAudio.kext from /System/Library/Extensions

2. Opened System profiler and checked that AppleAzaliaAudio.kext was loaded and sound was working for me using firedrake's method. (Boot to xp and then restart to os x will get u the sound).

3. I deleted AppleAzaliaAudio.kext and AppleHDA.kext from /System/Library/Extensions

4. Copied AppleHDA.kext of version 10.4.3 into /System/Library/Extensions

I got this AppleHDA.kext file from this thread on page 5, posted by Callysto.

5. I edited AppleHDA.kext/Contents/Plugins/AppleHDAController.kext/Contents/Info.plist and changed this -

<key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key>

<string>0x27D88086</string>

to

<key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key>

<string>0x26688086</string>

Though it was listed under ICH7 for the file, I just ignored it.

7. Deleted Extensions.mkext and Extensions.kextcache from /System/Library

6. Repaired disk permissions

7. Rebooted.

Thanks to you all gr8 guys over here for providing so much info :)

thanks to subzero1266's method I also have ALC880 audio input and output running 10.4.8 with the newest semthex kernel as of today! The only slight problem I can see is that the volume control in the menubar doesn't affect the volume, except mute when its all the way down.

hello pablo,

thats good to hear about.. but can you explain us, what inputs and what outputs are really working (tested?)

the volume-slider problem should be resolved by Taruga, he wrote this in the other Thread you have posted the Link to this Thread.

Ask him to get the solution, i think if you are working hand in hand, we can get this thing working soon...

But we need an explaination about, what is working, what doesn t. Especially spdif , Line In? 5.1 outputs.?

What Kernel Version did you use..? k18-rc12 or ivm-rc12?

Thanks... Rene

Are you sure that it works for ya...?

Do you tried to record something via input?

The input is listed in syspref with AppleHDA, but unfortunatelly i doesnt work.

I try this method, and plug mic to input. I don't get mic working but I see that when I knock my mic hard bar is climbed up. There is something working but it is not for 100% correct I think that with some preamp I will be able to use it.

  • 2 weeks later...

I tested that method on 10.4.6, 10.4.7 and 10.4.8 (using both old kernel and mifki's kernel).

I get 2-ch sound working ( i only have 2.1 speaker setup and headphones to test) and line-in is reported to be working according to sys pref. still, no mic.

The volume controller on the menubar can only be used to mute and unmute.

Also, the system profiler doesnt display the audio info.

First, sorry for my poor english. Then ...

I read this topic (and many others) many time, I did all what you advised ... and sound still not working.

I'm bit confused about all your instructions, in fact. Some says the opposite of some others.

In 3 questions :

- Should I delete the AppleHDA extention, or the AppleAzalia ?

- What should I add in all the Info.plist ? 0x27D88086, 0x26688086 or 0x10ec0882 ? or the three ?

- When should I delete the Extentions.kextcache and Extensions.mkext, after or before repairing the authorizations ?

I'm running 10.4.6 under a Fujitsu-Amilo 1556, and it seems that I've the Intel HDA 880 card.

Thanks for any help ... I'm a long time mac-user, and I would be very pleased to make it run under my PC-laptop.

I read on the device manager of windows :

HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0880&SUBSYS_08800000&REV_0905\4&48A8F12&0&0001

Then I suppose my vendor id is 10ec and my dev id is 0880, so I should add "10ec0880" in the Info.plist. But should I write it in both AppleHDA and AppleAzalia ? and in their /plugins/controller ? and in AppleAC97 too ? What about deleting one of them, or two ?

I'm bit lost ... any help would be welcome.
