Swad
I've got a friend with an XBox 360 and I've got Halo installed on my Mac. Is there anyway that we can play multiplayer Halo between his console and my Mac? Thanks!
fobis
While that would be cool, it's a definite no. The netcode on both editions of the game are obviously different seeing as how they were built for different platforms and network infrastructures. The same goes for PC Halo; it cannot be played in conjunction with an Xbox/360. Even Halo 2 PC doesn't allow cross-platform play.

fobis
Actually, it's supposed to come out really soon, as in this month, I believe.. It's one of those "big-name" titles exclusively for Vista.
Vipersfate
Yeah, Halo 2 is supposed to be released May 8th or 9th here in the states. It is going to be vista only, but there are people out there doing Vista Games emulation in XP. I have to find it again...
nrvnqsr
Even Halo 2 PC doesn't allow cross-platform play. Yes, it will. MS is launching a "Windows Live" service similar to XBL, and Halo 2 Vista will be the first game to support it. Just like on the 360, there will be 2 different typse of Windows Live accounts : Gold and Silver. Silver is free, but Gold you need to pay a monthly fee for. With a Silver account, Windows Live games can only be played with other PC users, whereas Gold lets you play cross-platform multiplayer between the PC and 360. rollcage
Halo 2 isn't going to support cross-platform play, the Xbox version was made too early to incorporate the code needed. The first cross platform games will be Shadowrun and Uno.

nrvnqsr
um no it wont, he means can he play his friend on his xbox 360 playing halo while he is on his computer playing halo. Seems you missed the quote at the beginning of my post. Though I guess that's moot now. Halo 2 isn't going to support cross-platform play, the Xbox version was made too early to incorporate the code needed. The first cross platform games will be Shadowrun and Uno. Yeah, you're right. I got the impression that it was going to have cross-platform MP since it was a Windows Live enabled game.
patato
GameSpy Arcade allows tunneling= Halo 1 on Windows vs Xbox.(I've personally never tried it before) I don't think it's out for Mac though.
m82a1
or get another 360 and lan them together or get 2 pc's and halo there, and i believe patato is wrong about the tunneling part
