Video sizings and settings question

So im a big noob at this, i managed to get Jas 10.4.7 working perfectly on my pc, with the exceptions of my sound (damn creative sb), the only issue is i am not able to resize the screen settings out of 1024 x 768 and im not sure how to make it read my video card well enough to update any drivers (for games, etc). I've searched around, and haven't found anything to work, yet.

 

Currently my vid crd is an ATI Radeon 9700 tx, and when i look at 'about this mac' ... 'more info'....'graphics/displays' this is what it is reading:
