dvi or vga works, but not both 7300gs

I have tried Natit, Natit Dual v.1 and v.2. I can get one display working. If both are plugged in, the vga one works, if I unplug the vga, the dvi screen works.

Whichever screen is working, QE/CI both work.

I just can't seem to get both working at the same time:

if I do a 'grep 10de *.kext/Contents/Info.plist' in the Extensions folder, I get this:

AppleVIAATA.kext/Contents/Info.plist: <string>0x528810B9 0x31491106 0x00e310de 0x00ee10de</string>

GeForce.kext/Contents/Info.plist: <string>0x01df10de</string>

NVDANV40Hal.kext/Contents/Info.plist: <string>0x01df10de</string>

NVDAResman.kext/Contents/Info.plist: <string>0x01df10de</string>

Natit.kext/Contents/Info.plist: <string>0x01df10de</string>

This is the relevant output of dmesg:

I have a very similar situation on my 7600GT PCIe. The only difference is that I don't have any family specific maching fails messages.

Can't get it to recognize the DVI port with the DVI->VGA adapter unless its the only one plugged in. If I leave the VGA unplugged and boot to the DVI adapter, plug in the 2nd monitor to the VGA and the click detect displays, the DVI monitor goes black and the VGA monitor lights up. It's even detected correctly.

Tried all the different NATITs I think.

Any thoughts?

Diabolik,

When you got your 7300gs working, did you have any messages like this?

pci10de,36a: family specific matching fails

pci10de,369: family specific matching fails

Another thing to clear up... should I install your Natit dual, immediately have a clean install of 10.4.8 AMD, or should I install? Or is there something I should do first? I notice that your Natit does not have as many files as some other Natit's? Should this matter? Also, were you dual dvi, or dvi/vga combo?

Because, when I plug in the second display, and hit detect, it doesn't seem to work. Like I said earlier, I can get either port working, but not at same time...

Both of my monitors use the vga connecter. Do you think that the fact I am using a dvi/vga adapter is hurting me? I would think not, as the monitor with the adapter works fine, so long as it is the only one.

Thanks for the help,

~S

use the 10.4.9 nvidia isntaller it will work for any machine

ive used both dvi/vga combos and dual dvi's teh vga/dvi combo i needed to first instal with vga montior attactchd and nothing to dvi then install natit and then reboot then hot plucg the dvi then hit detect then reboot again.

(my natit installers are made to not cause errors unlike many other installers :D)

Hi Diabolik,

Thanks for the great installer and the advice. Unfortunately, I still am not able to get the 2nd monitor working.

Here is my process.

First I unhook the Viewsonic PF790 and the DVI to VGA connector from my DVI port on my XFX 7600GT PCIe. I leave the LG L1910S connected to the VGA port.

I do a clean install using JaS 10.4.8 AMD Intel SSE2 SSE3 PPF1 PPF2 DVD on my Intel 3GHz with a Gigabyte GA-8I915P Duo (Rev 1.x) motherboard (no onboard video). I don't select any of the video options, only Azalia audio and the 10.4.4 login window (and of course the JaS Intel SSE2 SSE3 option)

Login and setup my account.

Then install JaS 10.4.9 , re-install Login Window 10.4.4 and reboot again

Then install the MPIP103_10.4.9.SMB.CIFS.APF.FIX and reboot again

Then delete all of the following from /System/Library/Extensions

GeForce.kext
GeForceFXGLDriver.bundle
GeForce2MXGLDriver.bundle
GeForceGA.plugin
GeForce3GLDriver.bundle
GeForceVADriver.bundle
NVDANV10Hal.kext
NVDANV30Hal.kext
NVDAResman.kext
NVDANV20Hal.kext
NVDANV40Hal.kext

Then I run your DiaboliK.1049.NVidia.Installer choosing Natit 0.2.

I fix permissions using disk utility and ensure that the Extensions.mkext and Extensions.kextcache are deleted.

Then I edited your NVDAResman.kext and added my card 0x039110de (by the way, there's a 0x031910de in that file and I thought that might be a transcription error 19 vs 91)

Then I reboot with the DVI to VGA connector still not attached.

When I reboot, all looks well and I have the choice to change resolution and there is no weird screen tearing (thank you).

Then I connect my monitor to the DVI->VGA connector and the connector to the port. As soon as I connect the connector, the monitor connected to the VGA port goes black. After a few seconds it lights up again, but the other monitor on the DVI port is still black. So, I hit detect display but nothing happens. Then I reboot as you instructed.

I see the following in the console when I reboot with the DVI connector and monitor now attached.

Info from system profiler:

GeForce 7300 GS:

Chipset Model: GeForce 7300 GS

Type: Display

Bus: PCIe

VRAM (Total): 256 MB

Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de)

Device ID: 0x01df

Revision ID: 0x00a1

Displays:

ASUS VW192Sˇˇ:

Quartz Extreme: Supported

Rotation: Supported

Display:

Status: No display connected

I can't get second display working on DVI with VGA adapter (display CRT SONY Trinitron Multicsan200ES). After "detect displays" for second display I get "No display connected". What's wrong with my configuration?

I have the same problem on a Geforce 6600GT with VIA k8t8Pro chipset.

I think maybe the problem is that there are no EDIDs available in IORegistry (by using command: ioreg -l -w0 | grep"EDID"). Other people report EDIDs are listed. So Natit cannot detect EDIDs neither manually nor automatically...

Is it something AGP or VIA K8T800Pro related?
