It works! Except CD/DVD Burning

Specs:

Proc: Intel Pentium Dual Core @1.6Ghz

HDD: 2 Partitions = 1 20GB Mac + 1 60GB for Win XP

RAM: 1.5GB DDR2

OS: Mac OS X 10.4.8 JaS + WinXP Pro in Dual Boot environment

Sound: Conexant HD Audio

Networking: Broadcom 802.11 b/g

Filesystem: Native HFS for Mac and FAT32 for WinXP (for making backups in Mac)

Video: Intel GMA 950

Laptop Model: HP Pavilion dv6205us

Everything works on it just fine, however, when I try to burn something either though iTunes or even the Burn Folder, it fails and says:

"The burn to the TSSTCorp CD/DVDW TS-L6230 drive failed. The device failed to respond properly, unable to recover or retry"

It can read CD and DVD just fine but when it comes to burning, it doesn't work. Windows XP Pro works fine.

Model of Optical Drive: TSSTCorp CD/DVDW TS-L623D

Granted this is my first post and am brand new to the whole Hackintosh thing, I thought I would give it a whirl this weekend and sure enough, it worked!

What can I do to fix this? Mind you I am a MacOS n00b.

ThanX for the help in advance.

I went there before and he had the old 4.0.2 version up.

I just read where he is going to put out 4.0.3 today.

I went to the download page and the link was the old version but it said 4.0.3

http://pweb.uunet.de/pr-moeller.f/software/PatchBurn4.0.2.zip

Now it is the correct link:

http://pweb.uunet.de/pr-moeller.f/software/PatchBurn4.0.3.zip

I installed it and I tried iTunes to burn a CD and it failed. Same error. I also tried the Coriolis Systems CD Maker for iPartition, which the original error came from, and that did not work.

Attached is my PatchBurnLog in TXT format.

I think one of my problems in this is my CPU Type toward the top of the log. I have an Intel Pentium Dual Core.

What else can I do since this did not work?

Penguin:

I just did clean re-install of OSx86 10.4.6 on my MSI mPC 915 with Benq DW1650. I have always been able to read and write CD-ROM's and read DVD-ROM's. But I have never been able to write DVD's. I get an error in the middle saying "error occurred -- cannot continue".

Has anyone else had problems burning DVD's on OSx86?

Without the PatchBurn patch, this is what I have found in my System Profiler when I ran it:

Disc Burning:

TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L632D:

Firmware Revision: HH15

Interconnect: ATAPI

Burn Support: Yes (Unsupported)

Profile Path: None

Cache: 2048 KB

Reads DVD: Yes

CD-Write: -R, -RW

DVD-Write: -R, -RAM, -RW, +R, +RW, +R DL

Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes

Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes

Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO

Media: No

Could this mean something under the Burn Support area?

After the PatchBurn 4.0.3, my System Profiler says this:

Firmware Revision: HH15

Interconnect: ATAPI

Burn Support: Yes (Vendor Supported)

Profile Path: /Library/DiscRecording/DeviceProfiles/PatchBurn-tsstcorpcddvdwtsl632d.drprofile

Cache: 2048 KB

Reads DVD: Yes

CD-Write: -R, -RW

DVD-Write: -R, -RAM, -RW, +R, +RW, +R DL

Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes

Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes

Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO

Media: No

I am trying an Open Source program called Burn.

After hitting Burn, it immediately stated there was an error, Finished Burning, and said this:

The burn to the TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L632D drive failed. The device failed to respond properly, unable to recover or retry.

What else now, will I ever be able to burn?

I will try Toast but I think I will get the same error tho.

My sony 820a always said that but it burned fine.

Have you tried it in toast or some other decent burning app?

For some crazy reason, Toast works but nothing else. I am happy Toast works, if that works fine, which it looks like it is, I shouldn't have a problem! ThanX for the suggestion.
