Jason Hutchens Posted January 2, 2008 Share Posted January 2, 2008 I was having this exact problem, and downgrading smbd did NOT fix it. The solution for me was to edit /etc/smb.conf directly, and to change "hosts allow" from 192.168.99.2 to 192.168.2. (with no number after the final .) It appears that smb.conf contained old configuration (my home network changed) and that this was blocking access. The clue was "Denied connection" messages in /var/log/samba/log.smbd.
