IT WORKSS!!!! :D

I installed 10.4.9 Uphuck 1.3 in my Aspire 5051 AWXMi and works excelent in native!!!

I explain more concret how i do it:

1) I create 3 partitions, 1 for WinXP, 1 for MacOs, 1 for Music, videos and more

2) Install WinXP, and later install VMWare Worksattion 6.0.0

3) Open WMWare: Create a New Virtual Machine and do the rest.

4) Now delete the hard disk and ADD a new one with "ENTIRE HARDDISK"

5) It's prepared for install :(

6) Put your original Uphuck MacOs 10.4.9 ;) in the CD-ROM and RUN your virtual Machine

7) When apears the first screen "VMWare... bla, bla, bla" hit "ESC" key for see the BOOT Manager and select now CD-ROM

8) And wait!! installation starts!! ;)

9) Select & Delete your partition with Disc Utility and now apears in the screen :)

10) Now it's time to especify packages it's important that selects this: 10.4.9 AMD (obviously), Universal Kernel-3 (i think other kernels works too), IOATAFamily.kext, AppleACPIPlatform (is not important i think, but i install it) and VIA SATA/ATA (the key ;) ) and ATI ATA (the key too) finally select your 3rd party included software ;) and GO,GO,GO!!

11) When finish the installation it reboots the system and ultimate the configuration.

12) GREAT! now you have a MacOs! but only works in WMWare ;) but the job is not finished :D

13) Download the two patches that tuxer post and DO HIS STEPS. Very EASY:

14) Copy the 2 kext in /System/Library/Extensions/ delete the file and use Disk Utility for repair permisions, modify the boot file and that's it :P

15) Shutdown the f**king WinXP and load your new OS!!!

At this point our Aspire 5051...

Sound not work (later i try to install sound drivers), Ethernet (it's detected but i not tried), WIFI (not work), VGA (Generic drivers), DVD (Ok for read and burn), Webcam (detected as USB CAM, but not work)

And is enought for today! This is my first experience!

Thanks tuxer, your are a genius ;)

When finishes the installation, do this:

Install Azalia Audio Drivers and enjoy :D THE SOUND WORKS !!

Install IO80211Family.kext (version 10.4.5), and enter System Preferences->Network it detects Airport and later you will see an icon nexto the clock ;) WIFI AR5005G WOOORKKKSS!!! ;)

This two packages you will find it in the Uphuck 10.4.9 1.3 DVD ;) it's possible install this packages while you install the OS, but i don't try i do it later.

Thanks a lot, anywaYS, you're the best!

Only a question... How can I modify the boot file with '-f' parameter, because I have to write it everytime I lauch the system, There is a permanent method for this to start automatically without write anything?

Thankssss!!!

ohh, what about installing VGA drivers from uphuck 1.3 DVD? maybe we can change resolution and activate Core Image and Quartz Extreme with our ATI?

Yes! if you open the file: /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist you will find this tag: <key>Kernel Flags</key> next line you write or simply add -f parameter and will be looks like this <string>-f</string> save and it's FINISHED :P

note: for editing this file you use the text editor and is necessary to be root or put the password.

About the VGA i don't find drivers, and work with ugly generic drivers :(

USB 2.0 WORKS :D

My english is not good sorry :S

Thank you very much for the help!! :D I've resolved the -f boot problem. :D

About VGA Acceleration and Resolution is one of the most important thing to work in OSX, it's a pitty... :(

128 Mb Graphic Card without using...

I read maybe installing Callisto Driver 3 (it's in VGA Drivers ATI in Uphuck 1.3 DVD) we can change the resolution.

But I have another serious problem with this laptop using OSX.... temperature increases really really hot :) !!!

And ventilators never stop, it's really noisy!! :( I am afraid of using too much...

Maybe it's because the emulated graphics and visual effects without using the correct card driver

Maybe installing Power Management from Uphuck DVD?

and what about installing Realtek Ethernet for LAN? Works for you Ethernet?

I tried before, intalling OSX with AMD 64 Kernel instead Universal Kernel 3 but it doesn't work in native, so I think the key is

select the correct kernel, drivers and pachtes in the installation from DVD, because I have had to start again from the beginning. The last question: If I mistake, Do you know how can I modify the packages I have install afer installation to make it works in native? Or how can I run windows like before and delete OSX partition to not start from the beginning (format partitions, install xp..install osx..)

Sorry about my english too and for my several questions! :D

Thank you again for all, if you discover anything, please report me! ;)

@petergzc:

I have an acer aspire t180 desktop. 320 gig SATA drive. Whenever i try to use the disk utility and erase the partition it just freezes up and comes back with an internal error saying it cant make the changes. I am using uphuck 1.4a dvd. any suggestions?

Also, would you recommend installing this with vmware on vista or xp, or booting from it?

thanks in advance

vista won't work as MS has set strict restriction to disk operation. i tried it. only in xp can vmware successfully install osx.

oh god so I must unistall My Vista than Install My XP just to use VM ware 5 than install OSX ==> uninstall XP ==> use OSX than install my vista again.

:( I think that process will take alot of time.

but thanks

Vista can't install OSX and VMware I have try but always failed.

Hey, Moe, thanks for replying in my two threads! :(

Okay, anyway, I'll get 10.4.8 later.. so, anyway, I just pop in the disk, and install to the second partition.. but, how about the boot loader? Would it load XP as the default, or OS X as the default? And, how does one go about installing Darwin?

Why delete "AppleVIAATA.kext" I thought we were adding the device and manufacturer Id in that kext for the SB450 controller?

0x43791002 and 0x43A1002 to get the second channel to work.

anyhow I am lost now

EDITED FEW MINUTES LATER:

I did not mention to you I have an HP Desktop P4 524 3.06GHZ and an AT motherboard of some sort but I guess that does not matter now. It has the ATI SB450 Southbridge on it and the ATI RC410 Northbridge.

I decided to approach a different way to install. I have a SAT to IDE so I removed the IDE cable from the DVD and put it on the converter. Ihave an external USB2 DVDrom I put the Uphuck 10.4.9 v1.3 installer into and install that way. Hard drive was recognized no problem.

Now I guess I can boot off the DVD again and this time go to terminal and add the kext files you have on Sata.zip file. I also have a USB flash drive conected so I can access both the installed uphuck on the HArd drive and the USB flash. I am backing up the IOATAFAMILY.kext in case. Let me get this straight just replace your kext with the one already in extensions folder? Permissions are already set on that sata zip file?

I am still unclear of these instructions:

then install sata kext IOATAFamily.kext

install AppleOnboardPCATA.kext

delete AppleVIAATA.kext

When you say install "AppleOnboardPCATA.kext" you mean grab it off the DVD zip file? I assumed I did not need that so I could not figure out where that file was now I know.

And you say to delete the "AppleVIAATA.kext" because it is now located in your "IOATAFamily.kext" within the plugins folder correct?

So in my case since do I need to add this ID to get the secodn sata channel to work? "0x43791002 and 0x43A1002"?

Can someone please clear this up for me?

BTW when I tried to boot off the Sata to IDE converter my OS just reboots everytime so I have no idea why its doing that?

And doing that mod does not help so maybe its the kernel in Uphuck's 10.4.9 v1.3 that my system is not compatible with? RIght after the Darwin boot and after the kext files are running , like running the -f option, right after that it just reboots. Does that mean its a kernel or some other issue?

EDITED LATER TODAY 4:50PM

I finally got this to work. My built in graphics however does not work. Had to put in a PCIe Nvidia 7300gt for now. I have the 5300 as well and will install prasys's driver once I tweak a few things.

I am able to get things to work under the jas 10.4.8 install but Uphuck's 10.4.9 v1.3 causes my system to reboots endlessly right after the Dawrin Boot.

EDITED THIS MORNING 10-22-07 3AM

Everything works fine had to put a nv 5200 graphics card in because the Built in x200 chipset is {censored}. No more waiting for root device!! I do notice it runs very slow though.

I am wondering if I should just get a cheap MicroATX board and swap it out. P4 775 3.06 GHZ. Got the HP for $100 and everything works. Dunno if I want to spend another $100 on it?

If I do which mATX board should I get? maybe a 965P chipset board since this is on the current macboo pro.

One more thing I installed both 10.4.8 jas and 10.4.9 Uphuck's from anothe similiar SSE3 system but never booted them up on it, just booted the current osx86 so I could modify the kexts before removing the drive. Swapped the drive over to the other PC and booted it up. Solved the 10.4.9 crash by renaming the appleintelcpu*.kext. Weird I though that only affected SSE2 systems but has to move that kext.

I know Tiger is not fully posix but I guess I was lucky to install it the way I did.

Pardon my noobish question but there is somehting i dont understand... how if we use vmware to install an image of OSX, we make that image the main boot partition on the hard drive?

Do we need to boot into windows then boot the osx image or can we just boot into it? Can someone explain a step by step?

2) Install WinXP, and later install VMWare Worksattion 6.0.0

3) Open WMWare: Create a New Virtual Machine and do the rest.

4) Now delete the hard disk and ADD a new one with "ENTIRE HARDDISK"

5) It's prepared for install

/snip

Could someone explain or post what settings exactly to use on VMWARE, to get OSX installed? I dont have a HFS partition setting in VMWare and I have no idea how to set it up.

Another thing I dont understand is Step 4, could someone explain this as well?

Thanks!
