Here goes,

Downloaded this update, started the installer, but couldn't select the kernel packages.

Ran the update, and installed the kernel package with pacifist.

Rebooted and had a kernel panic about the AppleIntelCPUPowermanagement.

So i booted into Windows, used macdrive to replace:

/System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowermanagement.kext

Deleted:

./mach_kernel

Renamed:

mach_kernel.hpet

to:

mach_kernel

Rebooted into OS X, system was slow at first, after repairing permissions with diskutillity, i rebooted.

System hang just before:

done
mach reboot

Everything else works out of the box :)

Even Core Duo, i have 2 cores enabled :P

Darwin computer.local 8.9.1 Darwin Kernel Version 8.9.1: Thu Feb 22 20:55:00 PST 2007; nets:xnu-792.18.15~1/RELEASE_I386 i386 i386

CPU = SSE3

Attached are the 2 files that i replaced, these are the only files i have replaced :)

And some screenies :)

Edit

Forgot that the kernel.pkg also contains files that need to be replaced. I've attached them in Archief2.zip.

/private/etc/rc
/System/Library/Extensions/System.kext
/System/Library/Extensions/r3d3.kext

System.kext does not need to be replaced, the 10.4.9 system.kext works fine :)

Edit

Deleted the attachments, not allowed to distribute :(

Kiko: i assume you're using the patched kernel from the 10.4.9 prerelease seeds - have we verified that 10.4.9 final's kernel is the same? or do we need another patch?

sweet, thanks for the lowdown. :(

i assume with this we dont need to worry about System.kext? i mean, only thing we should be changing compared to apple's 10.4.9 is the kernel and AppleSMBIOS?

it shoudl sill be bootable, it uses ur older kernel unless u select the kernel pkg. I'll see what changes overnight, and int he morning i'll make a new pkg, once im done my dvd
