WaldMeister
Here goes, Downloaded this update, started the installer, but couldn't select the kernel packages. Ran the update, and installed the kernel package with pacifist. Rebooted and had a kernel panic about the AppleIntelCPUPowermanagement. So i booted into Windows, used macdrive to replace: /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowermanagement.kext Deleted: ./mach_kernel Renamed: mach_kernel.hpet to: mach_kernel Rebooted into OS X, system was slow at first, after repairing permissions with diskutillity, i rebooted. System hang just before: done mach reboot Everything else works out of the box Even Core Duo, i have 2 cores enabled Darwin computer.local 8.9.1 Darwin Kernel Version 8.9.1: Thu Feb 22 20:55:00 PST 2007; nets:xnu-792.18.15~1/RELEASE_I386 i386 i386 CPU = SSE3 Attached are the 2 files that i replaced, these are the only files i have replaced And some screenies Edit Forgot that the kernel.pkg also contains files that need to be replaced. I've attached them in Archief2.zip. /private/etc/rc /System/Library/Extensions/System.kext /System/Library/Extensions/r3d3.kext System.kext does not need to be replaced, the 10.4.9 system.kext works fine Edit Deleted the attachments, not allowed to distribute Edited March 14, 2007 by Lejenk
munky
Kiko: i assume you're using the patched kernel from the 10.4.9 prerelease seeds - have we verified that 10.4.9 final's kernel is the same? or do we need another patch?
mifki
same kernel
munky
sweet, thanks for the lowdown. i assume with this we dont need to worry about System.kext? i mean, only thing we should be changing compared to apple's 10.4.9 is the kernel and AppleSMBIOS? mifki
Once you install it, repair permissions. And install the 10.4.9 kernel at your own risk
Modulor
Same problems here. The new patched kernel was unselectable, so I thought it is already included in the package - but it wasn´t. Now I can´t boot anymore. Will try to restore my last backup...

vaderd
Works for me using the old Semthex kernel and disabled r2d3, but dmg mounting fails. Even after replacing kernel.framework. Everything else seems fine.
munky
vaderd: disk mounting etc means you need to replace System.kext with the 10.4.8 version, iirc.
