Hey there everyone.

I seem to have similar problems. My Hack (P5LD2-VM 945G, 10.4.9+netkas 8.9.1 kernel) sleeps and wakes fine in S3 mode but after waking I need to replug my USB devices. I read Ebert's post on needing to have ApplePCIConfigurator.kext loaded to reenable USB. As noted by another user this kext seems to be a plugin for AppleACPIPlatform.kext which is the file that was posted to Megaupload. I downloaded this and installed it but it causes a kernel panic on boot. Ebert's version of AppleACPIPlatform.kext on Megaupload is 1.0.10. I'm currently running version 1.0.3. I've also noticed that ApplePCIConfigurator.kext is not loaded when looking at System Profiler->Extensions.

What can be done to reenable USB devices without physically replugging them? Any suggestions?

Cheers.

yep my last problem......

I noticed when I look at AppleACPIPlatfrom kext though the extension section of the System Profiler that it says:

AppleACPIPlatform:

Version: 1.0.3

Last Modified: 04/01/2006 02:35

Get Info String: 1.0.3, Copyright Apple Computer, Inc. 2003-2005

Location: /System/Library/Extensions/AppleACPIPlatform.kext

kext Version: 1.0.3

Load Address: 0x35d7d000

Valid: Yes

Authentic: Yes

Dependencies: Incomplete

Dependency Errors:

com.apple.iokit.IOACPIFamily: No valid version of this dependency can be found

Integrity: Kext is modified

A copy of this kext is in Extensions folder though.

My situation is that sleep is fine and I can push for example the mouse button to come out of sleep but then the USB kb and mouse need replugging.

also noticed following message:

System Sleep

Enabling XMM register save/restore and SSE/SSE2 opcodes

Started CPU 01

System Wake

vmnet: bridge-en3: interface en is coming UP

AFPSleepWakeHandler: waking up

Couldn't alloc class "com_mifki_r3d3"

Couldn't alloc class "com_mifki_r3d3"

AFP_VFS afpfs_mount: /Volumes/Music, pid 736

I don't know a lot about all of this stuff however. But does anyone else with similar problem get this message (dmesg output)????

  • 1 month later...

JOYYYYYY....

After over a year of trying I stumbled onto a sleep solution!!!!

Doing this hack here plus plugging my mouse through Apple's aluminium keyboard (no other keyboard gives me sleep, tried a couple of different ones and no keyboard) gives me fully working sleep.

Funny thing is, I tried disabling safe sleep before - it's the new keyboard that does it on my hacky - go figure....

YAAAAYYY, thanks man, that made it work, but not directly, it worked the next day...so here's what i did

To check how much space you are losing, open terminal and:

Code:

ls -l /var/vm/sleepimage

To disable:

Code:

sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0 sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage

reboot

to enable again:

Code:

sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 1

reboot

--------------------------

now these codes caused my OS to shutdown instead of sleep....

so i went and set sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 3 and got sleep...............i dont know how but that's what i did...i mean, i had sleep but no wake, but right now the screen just woke up..yaaay..

ill test it once again...

ok, setting hibernation to 0 or 3 made the same result of sleeping, no safe sleep, the only difference is that when it's set to 3 i can see the HDD led flashing before sleeping for 2 seconds and then it's normal sleep....anyway they both woke out of sleep at around 30 to 100 seconds....that's what i hate about it, but at least i got it back, so im wondering if this code above had to do anything about it and that i had it working the past couple of months when i upgraded to 10.4.9 with the sleep supported kernel.

oh, and the first time it worked, it was safe sleep actually, and in the log attached i can see safe sleep working.

well, ill read the whole topic yet again to find any new info i was dropping.

thx guy for giving me hope.

Hello everyone,

I've been working on the issue where your pc wakes successfully, but usb mouse/keyboard are frozen.

It seems to be coming from the AppleSMBIOS.kext and I've managed to get a new version of the kext out that has fixed it for me.

I've uploaded it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?ebgy5icpxmb

As usual, no guarantees, but this fixed it for me.

Its based off the 10.4.9 (latest source available) and the version # is 1.0.11. Tested on 10.4.9 and 10.4.10.

This has all the fixes for About This Mac crashing (I've only tested Intel).

Only issue I've found with this version that I'll try to fix when I get time, is that running ioreg -l will make the output stop at smbios. It doesnt seem to affect anything as far as I can see.

Good luck!

hey, i found that page where real mac users complain about sleep too :) haha...anyway, there's some tweaking mentioned...thought this could help someone, ill try it myself coz i get the screen back after sleep sometimes after 2 or 3 minutes...i wish i get it instantly like within 5 seconds.

hey,

i noticed in my system log that RT2500replug kext is kind of making the timeout to replug the d-link wifi usb, even if the dongle is not plugged in the laptop. so i removed the kext, and i put the system to sleep and wake, and here's the log, it looks very very weird....also as soon as i plug in the usb wifi i get the connection faster than the replug kext.

hey guys, finally it's working flawlessly....i had to install the old released installer by macdotnub, acpicputhrottler.zip, that's after i removed the ACPICPUThrottle kext first, and i got wake from sleep instanteneously a couple of times in a row, also throttling working with the packaged DCPUManager....

but i still have the following kind of error in the log, but i think it was reported before.

Oct 24 16:40:50 cherif-herrawis-computer kernel[0]: ACPICPUThrottle: Adding CPU0

anyway, im really happy about that, now i have a reliable OS with sleep.

oh, and btw, i lost the cores temperature sensors in the dashboard widget, i only have the HDD temperature.

Good luck!

Paulicat

Thanks!!!

Fixed the frozen USB after wake on Inte Bad Axe 1. I was using 1.0.1 before.

CS3 and Final Cut working too with this SMBios.

Thanks Paulicat!

This worked for me with my Dell Gx520 running 10.4.10. Previously I had to replug the keyboard/mouse to get them working after waking from sleep.

I have a slightly different problem, After replacing the AppleSMBIOS my Leopard install will sleep and wake up ok with drives connected and with USB drive intact but.. my display is garbled and fuzzy. You can barely make up the texts in the desktop. Tried different display drivers and still the same.

My 10.4.8 upgraded to 10.4.10 was sleeping and waking up perfectly, but the upgrade to 10.5 broke it( well atleast the waking up part). I cant even make a fresh Leopard install wake up properly, which was pretty easy for Tiger.

Those who have Sleep/wake up working in Leopard, what other extra stuff did you do?

i did a new install of ToH leopard. installed just fine. i tried to sleep and my screen would go blank and sounds like everything went to sleep. but it was still on. like my power button and LED's on my dellm1210 stayed on. I had to hold down the power button to turn it off. So i tried paulicat's new kext and i got a weird combo. My screen stayed on as well as my led's but my usb devices powered down. I'm presuming it has to do with the usb fix you were making for yours. either way had to maually shut it down.

Anyone got any ideas?

I've almost got working sleep here on my Asus P5L-VM. I changed the positions of two jumpers on the board who determine if there's electricity delivered to USB device when the pc is on sleep mode. I've configured them so that electricity is still available for USB in sleep mode. Now, my pc will go in sleep mode with a flashing power button, but I have no screen when it come back from sleep. Seems like it's a trouble with the ATI X1600 driver. My feeling is we wouldn't have any of these troubles if we were using an officially supported ATI, like the Radeon HD2600 they put in some iMac.
