Hi all,

first off all i give you my specs of my hackingtosh. It's a p4 3.00 ghz intel on intel 915gag motherboard with a nvidia geforce 6600gt tdi 128mb graph card. i'm running on 1gig of ram.

i have the marklar patched dvd from 10.4.1, installed fine, everything recognized.

now i want to update to 10.4.8 with a combo update ore something that doesn't have to many download (or i get smallband connection).

i know there is a normal dvd with 10.4.8 install on it, but its 4.4gigs thats to many for my connection. the combo updates are arround 500mbs, what is very intresting for me.

i have installed an 10.4.8 patch but he crashes when installing and i have the bootscreen and thats it, i tink its because i have sse3 and the patch propably is for sse2.

i'm a kind of newby on patching and al this, thats why i ask you guys for the best solution to get 10.4.8 on this hackingtosh.

kind regards from Robin

(btw sry for bad english, i'm a nooby but not lazy to search for solutions)

That isn't a good idea to try to update from the 10.4.1 to 10.4.8

if you want to get a new version i'd recommend that you just download the 10.4.6.... it is more stable than the 10.4.8 a lot of people are having problems with the 10.4.8 version.

Just leave your computer on and downloading when you sleep and all of that.

I don't think it will work because between 10.4.1 and 10.4.3 there was a bootloader change, and since the first retail was not 10.4.1 I doubt the combo update will work.

i thought the combo update only worked for 10.4.4 and up because of all those problems listed by macgirl. If you're going to download 10.4.6 you might aswell just download 10.4.8 instead. Do any of your friends have a fast connection that they could download it for you?
