hi all, i have osx 10.4.1 installed on my hackingtosh, he booted fine and everything work fien from hardware.

Now because i'm a hugh diablo 2 fan, i tried to install this on my new apple, but he says that he cant instal it on this machine, i have the mac version from diablo 2, so if i try to install it on my original G4 he installs it with classics.

Any ideas to install this on my hackingtosh? can i also get classics there to work?

txs for people who wants to help ;)

upgrading is disabled (afaik) with the current DVDs.

if you have a reasonably compatible system, you could try the 'paulicat method' - this uses Apple's 10.4.8 combo updater and a replacement kernel and one kext. i've used it and it works for me, but then i have an intel 945 chipset and an intel proc (ie fairly close to a real intel mac).

this compilation might help you: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=34871

as for sheepshaver, you could try the Universal Binary version here: http://gwenole.beauchesne.info/projects/sh...aver/#downloads

you'll need a copy of Mac OS 9 (or 8, or 7.5 + a ROM image)

Would even run in 10.4.1 (if you have a GMA900/950) but you gotta have in mind that this game WON'T work if you don't have any display driver framebuffer loaded, whatever version of MacOS you are using (which you can have loaded if you have a GMA900/950, or any GeForce 5/6/7, or even ATI Radeon X1xxx ; for the ATI, you need at least 10.4.4, and if you have a GeForce you have to install 10.4.8).

Hopefully it was helpful.

ok guys, i try this all, i reply tomorrow,

Me myself i have also a pentium4 3.00 ghz on a intel 915 GAGL motherboard, graphicscard is an MSI geforce 6600gt tdi 128mb (i know its pretty low). So coyuld this be the problem why he doesnt startup diablo? i installed it with the native installer, everythings seems to be fine, he asks the disc etc. but when i try to start he just say i have an serious error report problem some kind of that.

Ok now i gonna try some patching etc  i hope this would work, again time for my hard gaming, this time on a stable system.

ok guys i tried some updating yesterday, my hackingtosh now crashes at hes bootscreen, so i guess i need to reinstall everything right now.

diablo installed fine but i can't play it. maybe it goes better with this combo update to 10.4.8?

i'm a kind of nooby when it comes up to replacing kernels and keys so every nice help is welcome.

this crash i have has nothing to do with my config i hope? (INTEL p4 3.00ghz lga 775 on intel 915gag motherboard with MSI geforce 6600gt tdi 128mb pci express, 1gig ddr ram)

so i try again this evening. any sugestions to get my 6600 gt fully to work would be helpfull :)

Your Diablo 2 error ocurred because GeForces aren't compatible with 10.4.1 as I told you in my previous post.

Go get a 10.4.8 DVD (not .3, .4, .5, .6 or even .7 BUT .8!), and it'll work.

No, you can't update from 10.4.1 to .8, sorry. Apple did to many changes. 10.4.8 combo update is only for .4, .5, .6 or .7
