MarcusAurelius
According to Device Manager its hardware id is 168c, 1c. Meaning it should work out of the box in OS X. I'd like to know what results mac pro users have gotten with it. At $25 it's the cheapest PCI-E wifi card available. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16833347001 Edited February 24, 2007 by MarcusAurelius

guilliamo
I have the card, and no luck with it unfortunately. Any news ? When these cards got to "almost nearly 'bout free after rebate" I gave one a try. <http://www.clubit.com/product_detail.cfm?itemno=A5341001&cmp=AFC-CJ_CBIT> Does work great in Vista...which seems to think it is an Ethernet card before Abit's drivers are installed. So far no joy in OSX86 10.4.10...which seems to think it is a serial modem ?? Tried IO8211.kext from 10.4.5, but still no joy. We KNOW that Apple supports this particular Atheros chip, but somehow either the card's architecture OR the fact that it is on the PCIE bus gets in the away ??? =============================== Hackintosh Desktop Everything works, including both cores, DVI & sleep: Pentium D 3.2 Ghz - Intel Motherboard D945GNTKLR 10.4.9 Build 8P2137/Darwin 8.9.1 Kernel: Thu Mar 15 20:55:00 PST 2007; netkas: 792.18.15~1/ RELEASE_I386 2 GB Ram - 2x 1GB DDR2 667 HD 400 GB - Seagate SATA Onboard Firewire 400 Onboard 10/100/1000 LAN DVD-RW-DL Pioneer 18X DVR-212D SATA Sony CDRW 52X CRX23EE EIDE Belkin F5D7000 Wireless PCI Video ATI/ATI X1600 Pro PCIE 512MB Display Dell 2405FPW Logitech Wireless keyboard & mouse Aspire Pininfarina Tower Case
AndreaGalileo
Have the same problem here. Is it possible that the card doesn't work because its plugged at a 1x PCI lane?
byusinger84
PLEASE HELP! NEED THIS CARD WORKING!!!
Guest BuildSmart
The card doesn't work cause the chipset is not supported (despite what you believe). The chipset is comprised of a pair of chips that work in tandem and only one of the chips is supported which is why the card is seen but fails to work. Wrenbird
I have one and it is not recognized is OS X at all. Solution: I bought a Netgear WG311T. Works flawlessly.
Gabo_c
It's for a hackintosh but you can give a try...replace the IO80211Family.kext with this one, on hacks works using kissmac and some times gives kernel panic....take a look on this thread http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=138351 and that's the io80211 for leo 10.5.6 HERE
