Dilemma: Want a MacBook now :(

So after messing with OSX86 I want a MacBook. My problem is that I currently have a Asus S96J, 1.46 Ghz Celeron, 2 Gigabytes of Ram, 80 gig hard drive, and a DVD-RAM drive with Windows XP. I despise Windows Vista after trying it, I only play Warcraft 3 and I'm more interested in creating music both on guitar and electronic with sound fonts.

The condition of the laptop is used, with some scratches on the lid of the laptop. I would not mind loosing money on this if I could get close to a MacBook price.

I was thinking about keeping one gig of ram before selling it and maybe swapping out the hard drive.

I would be getting the cheapest Macbook from small dog's website which is 950 dollars + 20 shipping.

What do you guys think?

I want to try and sell it on Ebay but I got a feeling its going to sell short especially since I don't use paypal anymore and that someone will claim the laptop is broken and try to scam me

Yeah you could probably get maybe $500 or so for your laptop and be well on your way to a macbook, which would be able to handle everything you do already.

Yeah, selling anything these days sucks, you have to deal with all kinds of bastards...

Try to get a refurbished model or student's discount, knock a bit off the price, or even, a 2nd hand macbook!

Try ebay man, open the bids up at $500 and see from there. Then go from there. Be honest about any scratches and see how much you get. Then go to the refurbished section on the Apple store. Core Duo is fine if you just doing music, and Core 2 Duo is great but you will save money on a Core Duo and just play Warcraft 3 or if you play World of Warcraft. Get 1 gig ram (or upgrade after you buy it from the refurb store) and go from there.
