Building a OS X image from original media?

I've been looking around, but apparently I missed it. Rather than download some of the current JaS distros, I wanted to built from my already existing OS X media. I've got the ppf patch files, but my ISO builds aren't really going according to plan.

My first attempt was to build the ISO using MacDrive 6 + UltraISO, then patch it using ppf-o-matic and the JaS.1111a.Generic.Patch.Final.ppf file. The ppf patch gives a minor (non interupting) error at the begining, but does say it patches. However, VMWare never picks up the existance of a bootable media.

2nd attempt was to make a DMG file on the mac side, then try to convert it to ISO via UltraISO before patching. UltraISO won't even open it (but I verified the dmg is intact).

Perhaps I'm going about this all the wrong way. Can someone please clue me in? :(

Much appreciated

This will never work. First of all the restore dvds are not bios bootable, they are efi bootable. So you have to convert the iso you rip to a new dvd that is bootable on a bios system. Once you get to the point were you have the iso converted and bootable on a pc then you have a lot of editing of the installer to do ... adding patches and packages to the dvd that support your hardware ..... so on and so forth.

Secondly the JaS.1111a.Generic.Patch.Final.ppf is for 10.4.3.

Good luck.
