Guyfromorem
Hey. Like my title stated, I am interested in buying a new laptop. I know what most of you are going to say, don't buy a pc just for osx86. Just but a mac. Well, I think the price difference is a bit much for me. I ultimately want a pc and then to use mac for a few things that pc's don't have. So that being said, is it possible to purchase a new laptop that will pretty much work out of the box. a few questions- is AMD or Intel more compatable? I would prefer dual core (if intel than core 2 duo) that actually works. I would like a video card that is 256mb and qe/ci enabled that actually works fully (is ATI or Nvidia a better choice?) 2 gig of ram sound and wireless must work, (i prefer to have the internal working, and not a external card for wireless or sound) 100 gig sata hard drive 7200 rpm 4 usb ports. dvd burner that is recognized is this do-able for like $1000 if i built it? if not, what pricing am i looking at? I know most people don't respond to these, but if you could just leave a comment, that would be most appreciated. munky
i know you said not to, but... on the US applestore's refurb section there is a Refurbished MacBook 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo (white) for $899. seriously, i wouldnt go hack for a laptop. get that bad boy, throw in some ram and a bigger hard disk, boom, you've got a 100% working mac laptop which totally kicks ass. now, if you were building a desktop... glassJAw
You can't even get a gaming laptop for under 1,000 dollars. I assume you want something like a ATI x1600 Radeon or a Geforce Go. 1,200 + maybe able to. Edited February 9, 2007 by thricemike
