There was a firmware release for the 7300 a few days ago. I haven't read what it was all about, but have either of you tried it since updating?

Yes I have tried it. It made no difference. something intresting though is that I checked the pci-e slot and 7300's memory and i/o range in xp. It is the same as the ranges that cause a conflict in Vista.

I tried that update (1/5) to no avail. D3lM3L, how much RAM do you have?

I have a stock Mac Pro with Bluetooth so 1GB. All I really want from Apple with this computer is a working video driver in Vista. I don't see how it could take this long to make a driver for the PCI Express ports/graphics card to function properly.

From what I can tell it's only an issue for people with one gig of ram in the mac pro and with the 7300. A hell of a way to get people to upgrade

to more ram. Vista installs fine and without issue on my old P4 htt 1 gig ram with ATI 9600 gfx card ... Areo and all.

We need to find out how to change device settings to resolve the confilct in vista. The PCI-E slot or the gfx card mem and i/o range needs to be changed.

I'll chicken out and wait for a Boot Camp update.

That's the spirit .... I will try and find out how to change the settings and see what I can come up with.

EDIT: So just as I though . I have to find a way to assign the resources manually. This is from microsoft's site site

Code 12--This error occurs because the hardware conflicts with another device. From the device Properties dialog box, select the Resources tab to view the conflicting device in the "Conflicting device list" at the bottom of the screen. Remove the conflicting device, then re-add the device to see whether that device requests a different, nonconflicting resource. If these steps don't resolve the error, you'll need to manually assign resources for the two conflicting devices.

It's certainly not 'the solution' but disabling the PCI-Ex16 in device manager means you get colours and stuff, but that's because it's essentially bypassing your video-card.

The problem also exists with the x1900 too.

I have the same problem my mac pro, the video drivers are not loading. I tried installing forceware drivers from nvidia, the drivers installed, but failed to load upon start up. I cannot afford to buy more ram. This sucks, I was looking forward to trying out vista.
