kle500
I am about to buy this board (Asrock CONROE 945G-DVI). Can you please tell us what problems you have with your configuration? Why is not OSX compatible? What problems you have? Cause at the moment i think is one of the most compatible 945 boards. Regards
boo50
most compatible boards is INTEL boards. on 945 chipset for Conroe it's only D945GCL. i'm just don't like this not usefull info in system profiler.... like core 2 solo (not duo), 0 mhz ram, etc... also my usb pci card show up once, after i can't get it working, but on my D945GNT, which i have before, i have no such problems. i have no problems at all with that mobo. so if u need maximum compatibility in OSX - only INTEL is your choice. (945 and 975 chipset, not 965) at the moment for conroe only 2 mobos D945GCL D975XBX (XBX2) aka BAD AXE (1,2) p.s. xbx1 can use conroe only on rev. after 304 Edited January 25, 2007 by boo50
joe75
I would get the xeon, just because its a higher grade chip
boo50
yeah, i'm also think so. xeon's are always better quality and always cooler. and i don't need extreme overclocking, just wanna try =)) also i have kingston KVR800 1 gb kit (2*512) can anyone tell me something about my future system - OC'ing potential. i know what memory is the important component in OC. what's about mine RAM ? My main problem is that i already own an INTEL board but is 965G chipset, so i want to change it. As long as i read in this forum, i found out that the 945G from INTEL (aka D945GNTLKR), is one of the most compatible M/B, but it doesn't support C2D which is bad for me, as i allready have an 6400. My second option is the ASUS P5LD2-VM (or P5LD2-VM DH), that i have read very good results on compatibillity. My third was the Asrock board, that i see too many posts here raving about how good it is. So, i am a little confused here. Can someone else verify problems with the Asrock board? Regards EDIT: I just saw that the D945GCL, is available in my country! Is this a new board???? Edited January 25, 2007 by kle500
boo50
board not so new. take IT ! good choice for conroe OSx box. (better only XBX2) also i don't see any difference in asus or asrock or gigabyte ... etc... etc.... we can compare INTEL boards VS all others for compatible OSX install. all other are the same, i havn't see much difference, and i'm sure what on every board not from intel u can get some small lags. also i choose Intel, because @TRUST IN MacEFI projecT =))@ Edited January 25, 2007 by boo50
boo50
i've got xeon 3050/ now running at 3.0 GHZ, very stable, 24/7. bios settings: fsb=375 (375*8=3000) memory ref. freq = 266 mhz memory freq. = 533 mhz (memory ratio 1:1, running at 752 mhz - i have kingston KVR 800 1gb kit) timings 4-4-4-12. (((edit- now i have 4-4-4-9 timings )))) all voltages are in stock values. here is my geekbench64 results: Overall Score: 320.4 not tested yet a maximum OC potencial ... have one boot at fsb = 400 , memory timings 5-5-5-15. i thick i can get a lot more =) , will test later. p.s. i have TT Big Typhoon CPU cooler.
