AirmanPika
Thanks to LN1 giving us the heads up on the wireless card being the result of the skipping sound in vista I went on another driver quest. Luckily I have struck gold. I found a new version of the Atheros drivers (ver 6.0.2.75 dated 12/13/2006) which work great in Windows Vista and now I have zero audio skips! Get it from http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/NETWORK-C...ver-60275.shtml Enjoy! Edited January 23, 2007 by AirmanPika
erbic
You are the MAN. Disabling the card was fixing the problem, but I had two problems: 1. No internet in exchange for good sound. 2. Recently Vista's been COMPLETELY locking up when I try to disable the card. Mouse freeze, no response, hard reset required, etc etc etc. Haven't actually tried it yet. It's 11:30 and I have school tomorrow, so I'll give it a spin when I get home.
sHARD>>
Haha, I tried Vista on a laptop at work, and after getting the Intel wireless drivers on there, the sound kept crapping out randomly. Guess Microsoft has a nice little problem on their hands...

Davidrm
How do you install these? The current drivers I have in vista are "Broadcom" one's, when I "update driver" with these it just says "device can not be started"

If not then you don't want to use these.
Davidrm
It's an iMac 24" Core 2 Duo, the broadcom driver is the "Broadcom 802.11n" driver. Whenever I uninstall the broadcom drivers, windows just reinstalls them straight away without asking :s I have to disable the broadcom drivers, and then uninstall them and I'm wondering if this would cause the device not to be able to start after installing the atheros ones? Possibly, try doing a manual install of the drivers while its enabled if you haven't already. Auto update may not work right.
Davidrm
If by manual update you mean choosing "Update Drivers" and then tell it you have the disk and browsing to the atheros drivers folder I have done that If you don't mean that way could you explain please? thanks

Go to update driver and then select the Browse My Computer option. Once there click on the Let Me Pick option. There you should see the Have Disk button. Select that and browse to the atheros drivers folder. Select it and then select the Atheros AR5008 driver from 12/13/06 (probably the only one listed but if not make sure you use that one). If it says the driver is unsigned or something to that effect just say its ok and continue. If thats what you already tried than I can't help you much without being able to be in front of the PC. erbic
I don't think the iMacs have the Atheros chipset. From interpreting your post, I believe they have a Broadcom chipset instead. As such, these drivers most likely cannot work on the C2D iMacs. You may have to look elsewhere for a resolution to the audio problem. Hopefully Apple'll release a fully Vista-compatible Boot Camp soon.

Thats odd...so they used Atheros N cards in the macbooks and Broadcom N cards in the iMacs? Strange stuff. But then when was the last time Apple made sense Edited February 3, 2007 by AirmanPika
erbic
IDK... it's just that he said: Whenever I uninstall the broadcom drivers Implying his iMac contains a Broadcom wireless chipset. I could be completely crazy, but w/e. EDIT: Also look at what Adrian Fogge said here. Edited February 4, 2007 by ErBiC
