kkrull Posted January 17, 2007 Share Posted January 17, 2007 (edited) If I have already used the windows resource kit tool remapkey to remap the key that says 'delete' on it to delete, then how do I get Input Remapper to let me use fn+delete to get a backspace? If I create a "20: Function Key | Don't Ignore these keys" entry with either of these two functions they don't work... Menu(1) + Backspace(2) | Mouse/Keyboard Generate (Backspace) Menu(1) + Delete(2) | Mouse/Keyboard Generate (Backspace) I have tried other sections to no avail. For anyone thinking about doing this, unless you are an excellent typist you probably don't realize how much you ise the backspace key. However this solution does always get you past the windows login, whereas sometimes Input Remapper mysteriously does not run during login and you have to use accessability tools and the on screen keybaord to ctl+alt+delete. Also, I finally figured out that in Vista I have to create a shortcut to the windows resource key tool and force the shortcut to run as administrator in order to get the remapkey.exe function running as administrator. It isn't enough to run it from the command line where the command line is run as administrator. In the latter case remapkey still runs as a standard user and will not save any changes. Input Remapper hooks into the keyboard input chain before remapkey, so any backspace will be translated to delete that Input Remapper generates. I would suggest remapping delete in remapkeys to backspace. That way Input Remapper can generate delete and backspace and backspace and delete will come out. Here is how I got this working after using remapkey to swap backspace and delete... Section 40: Normal | Ignore all keys Remove F13(1) | CD:Eject Section 20: Normal | Dont Ignore these keys Remove Menu(1) + F13(2) | Mouse/Keyboard Generate (PrtScn) Remove Menu(1) + F12(2) | Mouse/Keyboard Generate ... Remove Menu(1) + F11(2) | Mouse/Keyboard Generate ...
