macdanger
Hi all, I work with OSx86 for a while now and I'm so amazed that I'm nearly thinking about buying a real mac :-) Thanks for you guys for making this possible!! But now my question: I tried to install Parallels current beta on my OSx86 10.4.8 JaS SSE3 with AMD Athlon 64. The Parallels setup routine claims that this Mac is not capable of using Parallels and ends the setup. Do I need a Intel Core Duo 2 instead of AMD CPU to get this working? Or will Parallels just not work anyway on OSx86? Thanks in advance macdanger
macwanabe
As far as I know It makes use of virtulisation and the AMD chip does not have it.
OoOoOoO
parallels can use software virtualization or intel VT technology, first way must to work with amds. afaik.
coolsax98
It does work with AMD, you may have to install with Pacifist, though. I don't remember what I did to install it.
PascalW
You need to remove the installer check whichs check for intel. Copy the installation package to your HD -> show package contents -> open info.plist and delete everything about the installtion check: So delete this: <key>IFRequirementDicts</key> <array> <dict> <key>Level</key> <string>requires</string> <key>SpecArgument</key> <string>machdep.cpu.vendor</string> <key>SpecType</key> <string>sysctl</string> <key>TestObject</key> <string>GenuineIntel</string> <key>TestOperator</key> <string>eq</string> </dict> </array> Save it and run the installer. EricJD
Like everyone else is saying, you either need an Intel chip unless you want to do some "hacking" I installed it on my P4 machine and it worked just fine.

Proteo
Not at this moment. Perhaps in the future, since Parallels team has stated that they will support Pacifica (the virtualization technology from AMD) in their Windows/Linux products, but that doesn't mean that Parallels Desktop will support it (actually I wouldn't bet on that, since Apple Macs use only Intel and therefore only VT support is needed). Prawker
Parallels works great on my AMD Athlon64 3500+ without the VT {censored}. Just edit the info.plist in the installer so it says "AuthenticAMD" instead of "GenuineIntel"
sayoc
Parallels work great with my Athlon64 3200+ too. But my question is about the hardware VT acceleration... like Athlon X2 socket AM2 ^
