Parallels on OSx86?

Hi all,

I work with OSx86 for a while now and I'm so amazed that I'm nearly thinking about buying a real mac :-) Thanks for you guys for making this possible!!

But now my question:

I tried to install Parallels current beta on my OSx86 10.4.8 JaS SSE3 with AMD Athlon 64. The Parallels setup routine claims that this Mac is not capable of using Parallels and ends the setup.

Do I need a Intel Core Duo 2 instead of AMD CPU to get this working? Or will Parallels just not work anyway on OSx86?

Thanks in advance

You need to remove the installer check whichs check for intel.

Copy the installation package to your HD -> show package contents -> open info.plist and delete everything about the installtion check:

So delete this:

<key>IFRequirementDicts</key>

<array>

<dict>

<key>Level</key>

<string>requires</string>

<key>SpecArgument</key>

<string>machdep.cpu.vendor</string>

<key>SpecType</key>

<string>sysctl</string>

<key>TestObject</key>

<string>GenuineIntel</string>

<key>TestOperator</key>

<string>eq</string>

</dict>

</array>

Save it and run the installer.

Not at this moment. Perhaps in the future, since Parallels team has stated that they will support Pacifica (the virtualization technology from AMD) in their Windows/Linux products, but that doesn't mean that Parallels Desktop will support it (actually I wouldn't bet on that, since Apple Macs use only Intel and therefore only VT support is needed).
