Once again we are in this time of the year, when rumors, analysis, hopes and wishful thinking run freely on the internet on enormous amounts, overlapping and stacking until we don't know which one is which. MacWorld is almost upon us! What do you predict Jobs will release on his keynote?

Many believe that some of the most long lasting Apple rumors will become true in a few days, things like the iPhone, Newton return or PDA, Mac tablet, and the video iPod have been strong rumors for years, and all have its supporters. Do you think one of those will come true, or something completely different will be unveil, perhaps shocking new features of known coming products like the iTV or Leopard will be instead?

Write what, in your oppinion, will happen or you only wish it would.

I expect the following:

  • iLife and iWork released (with simple spreadsheet app, and a way to add content to iWeb pages from a web interface).
  • One or two major studios added to iTunes store.
  • iTV released (it\'s hard to know if will do more than just receive streaming from other macs but I hope so)
  • Leopard announced with release date (1-1.5 months).
  • Short Photoshop CS3 Demo on Intel.
  • 8 core Mac pro released (CS3 Demo on this machine).
  • iPod phone announced (small, more iPod than phone).
  • .Mac improved (they better! and they should reduce pricing).
  • no video iPod

I think we will finally see the the iPhone, but don't know how will it be called, maybe Mac phone, I hope it's not just an iPod with simple phone support, I don't like the idea, I prefer a fully fleshed phone with music support.

12" mac book pro, I sooo want this.

iTV with video recording or support in it's interface for third party recorders/tuners, and will remain with that name

Itunes store will support subscriptions and "renting" of films (great for the iTV)

New displays, with bigger sizes, better quality, isight and HDMI inputs

iMac and mac book pro redesigns

Leopard released before expected, maybe the same day. If not, a full feature set description with new finder and improved aqua

Announcement but not release of mac pro with 8 cores

I would like to see the MacPro tower go to 8 cores get 2 external sata ports and support sli.

Here's a list of some things that I feel have a good chance of happening at Macworld.

  • An official release of the Apple cellphone, complete with a clever gimmick to introduce it. (Eg: Steve's presentation is interrupted by a phone call. When he takes it out of his pocket to answer, the audience gets a nice surprise.) Two models will be introduced, and more unannounced models will be released later on in 2007. Immediate availability.
  • Either an update on iTV's status, or the announcement of its immediate availability. Of course, it won't be called "iTV," but rather Mac Media Hub or something
  • The release of new versions of iWork and iLife for 2007. Expect both products to be renamed. Apple is expected to drop the "i-..." in almost everything but the iPod. iWork's successor will feature new spreadsheet capabilities. (Windows guy: I do spreadsheets. Mac guy: Yeah, and now I do that too, plus tons of new things with (insert new product name here))
  • An update on sales for the iTunes store with specific stress on movies
  • The introduction of new Mac Pros with updated Clovertown CPUs
  • An Adobe representative will demonstrate Fireworks, Photoshop, and some other CS3 programs. An update on CS3's total progress will be given.
  • New displays are introduced with built-in iSight cameras. New screen sizes become available, including a model larger than the 30."

Here's a list of some things that won't happen at Macworld.

  • A Microsoft employee announces the progress of the upcoming Office: Mac 2007/2008
  • A touch-screen iPod with better movie support is made immediately available
  • Steve Jobs becomes senile, wanders on stage with his black turtleneck but no pants, stares awkwardly at the audience, and has a seizure
  • Bill Gates shows up to tell everybody that Vista has been pulled at the last minute, and that he will now join Apple as a janitor

Has anybody seen the latest ad on Apple's site?

I forgot to mention Leopard in my prediction post. Whoops...

Apparently, the 2007 MacWorld is going to be even bigger than a keynote, as far as how monumental the announcements will be.

Well, as easily hype accumulates around 1 Infinite Loop, they better release all the (rumored) stuff they got on the pipes this year (not delaying the video iPod any more comes to mind).

I'm really curious about the rumored mobile version of OS X for smartphones and other "cool devices" that's supposedly are in the works

Nobody has mentioned it, but if Apple is making iTV with 802.11.n (as expected) so it can stream video, and is going to make use of the n capable wireless cards on the recent macs, they are most probably going to release a N draft router, a new Airport base at MacWorld (I hope they get rid of the silly UFO look).

haha and hopefully make an airport wireless express that last more than a year before breaking. many people have had their express base stations fry out within a few months, just look at the user reviews of the product.

The thing is, the 802.11n specification is not yet finalized. If they releases n products, they would have to be flashable to the spec when it comes out (if that can be done) or else they'd be considered "pe-draft" and may not be very compatible with other n hardware when more stuff comes out. FYI, the routers available now that are n are pre-draft.
