(MoC)
How to: 1. Find out your computers IP address by going into your router and looking at the active DHCP clients list. 2. OK now you that know your IP (don't forget it) its time to do some port forwarding. You have to go into your router and forward port 21 to your computers IP address. After this, save all setting in your router and exit. 3. Now that we finished setting up our router its time to download a program which we need. This software will be corporate edition for only 30 days and then it will revert back to personal. Corporate allows more than 1 domain and personal allows only 1. Go to: http://www.serv-u.com/dn.asp and grab the file. Then install it and configure it to your needs. Make sure you make a user so you can login to your ftp site. 4. Go to www.cmyip.com. Then the IP it gives you is your FTP. So your address should be like: ftp://(IP goes here). You HAVE to go to this place to see the IP your cable modem has. Not your computer's 192.168.1.102 etc. Enjoy, now everyone can have their own FTP server. You can do this on any normal Windows install. It is useful and simple if you want to make your bootcamp partition into a server. This is also easily removable if you want to remove server functions. BAF
There are free FTP servers, like Filezilla, that work great and, as I said, are free.
