I'm on 10.4.8 just used AMD FULL DVD tried installing natit_uni resulted in this:

post-51234-1167488227_thumb.jpg (I can successfully run the uninstaller to return to successful os x boot up again)

I would really really like help getting this working fully though as I am currently stuck in 1024x768 which displays rather blurry :dev:

Anyone got any tips/guides/etc as I'm sure that others are in same or similar situation

Specs:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+

Asus A8N-E

X1600 Pro 512MB PCI-E

1.5GB RAM

Delete GeForce kext and Extensions.mkext Extensions.kextcache reboot!!

This problem is caused of NF4 chipset, GeForce kext load chipset and have kernel panic!

If you have many squares on desktop put another monitor to VGA o DVI but off...otherwise try kext ATINDRV and IONDRV from 10.4.5

ok if i delete the geforce kext and the extensions and reboot i get squares then a blue screen that is all it loads up to unfortunately.

If i place in the kexts i got from 10.4.7 JAS install DVD after sudo chown and chmod'ing them and reboot i get a black screen with mouse only (however the system works because i heard someone sign in on messenger)

Boris i still get squares

I have an adapter that plugs into my DVI port allowing a VGA monitor to be plugged into the back i tried my VGA monitor in both connections

any more ideas or a more detailed set of instructions?

IONDRV and ATINDRV from 10.4.5 not from 10.4.7!!

Download update 10.4.5 from apple and extract with pacifist or install...Repair permissions manually and with utility disk...

Put your device id (0x71c21002 i presume because i have same video card) in PCIMatch ATIRadeonX1000.kext

sudo -s

chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/*

chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/*

rm -R /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

rm -R /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache

repair permissions with Utility Disk

and Reboot!

I used the kexts i had from 10.4.7 because i had full resolutions and QE/CI after customizing the installation with the boris patch, I still have full res and qe/ci if i use the 10.4.8 AMD SSE3 combo update (from demonoid a few months ago) on top of this install, however doing it this way i do not get latest kernel and what not

The instructions you give, is this the method that you used at all?

Thanks for your help.

This method work on new kernel!!

I'm not sure that you are new kernl with you installed combo...

in terminal digit

uname -r

or

uname -a

and put your information

if you have 8.4.1 this method don't work...

Work only 8.8.1

Ok Do i only need those 2 kexts then?

Not to be a pain or anything but It would be a great help to me (and any others) if you could provide the needed files in a .zip (presuming you still have them of course)

Great help thanks a lot

P.S. - I have the following Discs; JAS 10.4.7 AMD/Intel, 10.4.8 AMD SSE3 Combo Updater (old kernel I'm sure), 10.4.8 AMD TEST, 10.4.8 AMD FINAL, I shall use AMD Final to do your method if that is adequate

Formatted

Installed 10.4.8 AMD FINAL

Installed Pacifist

Downloaded 10.4.5

Extracted with pacifist ATINDRV.kext and IONDRVSupport.kext

(I couldn't find a IONDRV.kext, so judging from other posts i assume you mean this one...)

I'll wait for you to confirm next procedure before i continue

In other words What shall I do next/I don't like touching terminal that much :)

I have a feeling you want me to re-install 10.4.8 and customizing install with the atix1000 patch option.... (which I didn't do to install the system this time....)

Install Natit_uni

and put your device id in info.plist on ATIRadeonX1000.kext with this command

This is NOT needed!

The kexts are prepared that they detect the cards by itself.

0x71C01002&0xFFF0FFFF

You see? It matches all 71C cards as X1600! :P

You do realise that so far all that you've told me to do is

Download 10.4.5

Extract ATINDRV and IONDRVSupport kexts [These kexts are still sitting on the desktop un moved un registered etc]

Install natit

thing is if i install natit now i'll get the geforce crash i experienced earlier.

Can someone PLEASE do a step by step or confirm the given list.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

·Install 10.4.8 AMD FINAL

·Download 10.4.5 update

·Extract ATINDRV and IONDRVSupport kexts to desktop

·Enter Terminal and type;

sudo -s
[confirm password]
sudo mv Users/aNILEator/Desktop/ATINDRV.kext System/Library/Extensions
sudo mv Users/aNILEator/Desktop/IONDRVSupport.kext System/Library/Extensions
chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/ATINDRV.kext
chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/ATINDRV.kext
chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/IONDRVSupport.kext
chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/IONDRVSupport.kext
rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/Geforce.kext
rm -R /System/Library/Extensions.mkext
rm -R /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache

·Exit terminal

·Install Natit

reboot

hope for the best?

as stated before i tried removing geforce and all that happened was I got a blue screen, the mac desktop did not load up past this. I shall try again, do i not need to remove the extensions cache and mkext?

EDIT 1

ok it b0rked it following neo's method sad.gif

currently downloading the new JaS DVD see if that makes it any better smile.gif

EDIT 2

ok FINALLY got around to installing JaS 10.4.8 patched with ppf, and it resulted in the squares (just inverted colours so the black bits were white) sad.gif

that was with my choosing ATI1X00 pcie patch

any ideas now?

Hi everyone I have a kernel panic after installing natit on 10.4.8 insall dvd jas with the 2 patches on top It gives me the same screen from the begining of the topic only that my problem seems to be ATIRadeonX1000.KEXT NOT the gforce one , if I delete the ATIRadeonX1000.kext no driver loads . I tried borisbadenov method ,installer and manual , ATIx1xoo installer and even callisto driver all of them with the same result

I have SAPHIRE RADEON X1600 pro 256 mb pcie edition device id is 71CD NOT 71C2 LIKE OTHERS and I did changed this manually in the x1000.kext but nothing changed .I tried even to replace the kext with the 10.4.5 update kexts (atiradeonx1000.kext ,atindrv , iopcifamily , iographics , but nothing changes

Anyone could help please?

Same boat as me :D I've PM'd Neo but he has not replied yet (all tested with both VGA and VGA-2-DVI converter)

I tried 10.4.5 kexts + boris - geforce = squares

10.4.5 kexts + natit - geforce = squares

natit = kernel panic

natit - geforce = squares

boris = squares

boris - geforce = squares

10.4.7 JaS DVD upgrade to 10.4.8 JaS DVD + ppf1 = back to 1024 x 768 no QE/CI etc

I think it must be to do with the new kernel somehow :(

10.4.7 JaS dvd is great for me on resolutions etc, rubbish for compatibility and smoothness

10.4.8 is much improved compatibility/functionality but looks ugly, out of focus and i can't do video and graphics work like that :(

would really appreciate a fix/help whatever soon, i wonder if Myzar or tubgirl will be releasing 10.4.9 anytime soon with suitable fixes, same for neo with natit 0.2 :)
