I wish the Apple Lisa was in there ... I remember the Lisa with affection; it was the first computer I ever used that had a hard disk. The guys in the office had a poster of a semi-naked woman with the name "Lisa" hanging over it. I remember getting into trouble for running a program off a floppy because I didn't know it had an HD or that the program was 'installed'. Incidentally, LISA was supposed to stand for Local Integraged Software Architecture but the rumour is that it was chosen because it was the name of the daughter born to Steve Jobs and Nancy Rogers in May 1978.

A lot of features from the Lisa found their way into the Mac and I guess it's really the origin of the GUIs we use today; although Xerox created the desktop concept they didn't have an architecture underneath it that integrated everything in the way we know. Somewhere in a landfill in Utah there are around 2,000 complete Lisa machines buried by Apple in 1989 to clear warehouse space. It might be worth going out with a spade sometime!

I vote that "Lowly Mac Mini" is changed for "Apple Lisa". The chronology would then be somewhat better, though Microsoft Bob postdates the Lisa...

I would like to be Apple Lisa when I reach 500's instead of Apple ][ (which is, of course, an honor, though)

Of course there were 2 Lisas, one with 2 BIG Floppy drives and the next (Lisa 2 if I remember) with a HD.

Edit:

Yeah, my memory doesn't fail at all, heres a link: http://fp3.antelecom.net/gcifu/applemuseum/lisa2.html

PS: Newton anyone?
