macmaniac
Right now the contenders are: ViewSonic 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor (VX2235WM) Samsung 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor (225BW) HP Pavilion 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor (W22) other? I don't want to spend more than $500, and its not going to be used for professional photo/publishing. Just want a bigger desktop at home. The specs are all similar, various web reviews/opinions lean one way or another, so now I'm looking for the OSX user's perspective. Thoughts, suggestions, personal experiences? BTW, I live in a remote small town, so putting a Samsung beside a Viewsonic for a direct comparison ain't gonna happen......
boo50
i think you should better go with good 20" display all this models have same as 20" resolution 1680*1050... so they have bigger pixels, and lower quality... for any work 20" with the same resolution will be better. 22" will be better only for viewing films from a bigger distance.... and don't compare this to dell 24" Dell is much much better at all.... better try to find Dell 2405 - which is still very good display... maybe even better 2407, which have some problems in first revisions

pogi
My acer 22" was 299 at CircuitCity (online and in store) with no rebate. It is 1680x1050, DVI and VGA, works great. No dead pixels.
flatlyna
As far as I know all 22" models are using the same TN panel from one manufacturer, so it'll come down to price and features to diffrentiate. Its true that the resolution is the same at 1680x1050 just with slightly bigger pixels. I don't agree with another poster who said they were lower quality, but you might find you prefer the slightly bigger pixels depending on your eyesight. focus5D
Ive seen the Acer and own the samsung. They both have crisp image quality to my eyes. Having owned 2 710ns and now a 225bw, I can tell you that my experience with Samsung hasnt been the greatest, but merely satisfactory. Colors are "too cool (blueish)" IMO compared to other monitors, and there appears to be some fairly noticeable color banding (even with DVI on the 225bw) on all three monitors. The cool colors issue was quite harsh out of the box, but I was able to tweak it and get some decent results that I could actually live with. I had a choice between the acer and the sammy, and chose the sammy because of its height adjustment. I didnt think the color/banding issues were going to remain with this model. Guess not =(
Technobob
I have the 21" version of this model from Gateway and it's awesome, I have my HD cable box, Xbox and 2 computers hooked up. The picture in picture is great and having a 4 port powered USB hub is handy. My monitor has won many awards for features and quality.
