which motherboard supports sleep mode core 2 duo

since my kids use the computer, and they don't turn it off,...

365days x 24 hrs = 8736 hrs each watt costs $1.4

with 8hrs sleep that would be $168 saved!!! in 3 years.

so which motherboard works with sleep wake mode ?

asus P5LD2-VM 2.0 is a good starter board, but don't work in sleep mode,...

additional info

http://www.lifsoft.com/power/faq.htm

S0/Working System is on. The CPU is fully up and running; power conservation is on a per-device basis.

S1 Sleep System appears off. The CPU is stopped; RAM is refreshed; the system is running in a low power mode.

S2 Sleep System appears off. The CPU has no power; RAM is refreshed; the system is in a lower power mode than S1.

S3 Sleep (Standby) System appears off. The CPU has no power; RAM is in slow refresh; the power supply is in a reduced power mode. This mode is also referred to as 'Save To RAM'.

S4 Hibernate System appears off. The hardware is completely off, but system memory has been saved as a temporary file onto the harddisk. This mode is also referred to as 'Save To Disk'.

S5/Off System is off. The hardware is completely off, the operating system has shut down; nothing has been saved. Requires a complete reboot to return to the Working state.

looking for working S3 mode,

if you got a motherboard working, and know which state it's in post it,

motherboard , S3 mode, bios, os x (10.4.5), patch ...

thanks, Rob

i do not think it is much to do with the motherboard as it is with the graphics card. I do not know which cards are compatible with Titan with Sleep, but i do know many people have had success with the ATI x1600 with the boris method/neopheus installer.

so even if you the graphics card, adds a curveball,....

sleep works, GA-8I945GZME-RH (thanks to wondergod)

yep, it worked with the onboard gma, my sapphire x1600pro and now with my PNY Nvidia 7900GS, goes to bed and wakes up fine with 10.4.8 semthex kernel

don't work (sleep) Asus P5LD2-VM 2.0 // Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.93GHz // 2GB OCZ PC6400

eVGA GeForce 7900GT DVI/Titan (thanks to wallstreet)

thanks, Robert

and how much with EIST,

(should be a good start for testing, incl, OC/UC)

update,... so far had a hard time finding anybody with a motherboard with sleep function,...

conroexfire,... p5ld2-vm r2.0 no go... one asus board Gigabyte GA-8I945GZME-RH, but limiting ddr2 support,.. works,... could not get natit to work on p4 , with AGP 5600xt, could not get natit and nvidia 6600 on amd to run,.... so decided the safe route,... got asus P5LD2-vm R2.0 with celeron D 352,

the 10.4.8 intel only sse3 installed, but would not boot, stop sign,....

installed 10.4.5, network working of the bat, no sound , updated 10.4.8 SSE3 only, even thought it only showed sse2, working,...

sleep mode did not work on 10.4.5, then changed bios, acpi 2.0 support, and changed from auto, to S3 mode only,.... working, hurray,....

now on windoze , suse 10.1 triple boot, on the old p4 box, 1st win, 2 suse, then osx,.. noticed, in osx it showed the partitions boot, works even to windoze, have not changed grub,

did partition on osx, will see how it goes, 30gb dos, 30gb dos, 20gb osx 1, 20gb osx 2, 150gb osx 3, 16gb linux, 1.6gb linux (swap),...

next a pci express nvidia 7600gs or 7600gt, fanless, then core 2 duo,....

overclock so far non, with standard bios,... starting 3.3ghz, should go 4.5ghz, with stock cooling,

though I did break one plastic peg on the stock cooler,..need to get a new one,....then a thermaltake 120mm cooler,....

anybody got sleep to work on their motherboard + graphics card, please post,

thanks, Robert
