sigxcpu
Actually, there is no such thing as "software bottleneck", except the sleep() function There is ALWAYS a hardware bottleneck, any software no matter how bad will work faster on superior hardware. bofors
We're getting closer to a solution every day. I am glad you think progress is being made, but I got a PM from Shard this morning that did not inspire much confidence. Anways, I am trying to get Mash's call for help answered. wow
How is the traffic, is it mucvh more then before with the users? I know one guy who had also this sort of problems. At the end the problem was that some hacked the server, the hacker made some sort of invincable account and used the server spreading illigal software and mp3's. I believe it was very difficult to find, the hacker was smart. It costed them a day to find the acoount

bofors
Well, it seems to be loading slower than it should now (only about three hundred people are online). I heard it was down a few hours ago too.

sHARD>>
I've restarted the server completely. It seems to have recovered. The problem has finally begun to show itself to me as well (usually the problem occurs, the site goes down, and I can't properly debug what the problem is). I'm to the "working out the solution" phase. same thing here except i thought for a while it was just the digg effect but it has been happening for weeks now. Especially in the mornings around 7 AM CST in the US. Oh, and the server will continue to go down for 5 minutes daily around that time (it's some automatic maintinence). It's only 5 minutes
bofors
Thanks for the update Shard, I hope finding the solution is easier than isolating the problem.
