The Zune!

The Zune, Microsoft's latest half-assed attempt at copying Apple, has failed again.

First, it endures the terrible commercials that barely display what the product even is, and now this.

The Zune is incompatible with Vista. Seriously. Microsoft has to get off it's ass and do some work to make their stuff work together.

Also, apparently, the wifi barely works, which, being the supposed "killer feature" for the system, fails. You can't even transfer songs from your PC to the Zune wirelessly.

Not to mention the Zune does not play Microsoft's "Plays for sure" content...

Seriously, is Microsoft or Sony setting themselves up for failure more?

I seriously LOVE being around and being in the tech industry at this time... the mighty MS empire is starting to crumble, and apple's superior OS is finally beginning to make some real waves.

Not to mention the fact that EVERYTHING Microsoft do seems to be designed to make them look even worse... :thumbsdown_anim:

Zune its a joke!

i really hope that some company comes with a competitive product so prices go down but it seems that apple doesnt care about no one when it comes to prices.

greetings

Apple doesn't care, because, as Microsoft has shown, nobody can beat them.

Almost every major hardware and audio company has tried to shake the iPod from it's large user base, but it's proven time and time again to be impossible.

Apple can charge whatever they want-people will still buy it.

Also, Microsoft seems to have forgotten that the best-selling iPods are not the large-scale models, but rather the Nanos and Shuffles, the cheaper, (and even getting cheaper) and smaller models, which are aimed more at the general user than the hardcore music fan.

Where's the "Zune Micro"? I don't see it. And when people see an iPod and a Zune side by side, for the same price, no one in their right mind is going to look at the Zune and say "Sure! I'll take the uglier, less supported model that doesn't have the huge brand name behind it that essentially stands for music!"

i think the only company that is sort of near to be a competitor its Sony with its celphone i mean the new line with upgrade capabilities(memory slots on the side with different capabilities) and a complete line of accesories .

a friend of mi has one and its a good gadget.

i just wanna add that to the conversation.

Zune is born dead. I wonder what they were thinking while implementing the DRM. Nobody wants to fight an mp3 player only to get it to play music.

From the article:

On the positive side, if I rip my own songs into MP3 files and add them to the Zune library, I can transfer them without restriction.

something fishy here, AFAIK the restriction is added for all music, doesn't matter if they are DRMed, bought from marketplace or ripped from CDs.

I have to assume the restriction means the 3 play/3 day expiration for "squirted" music, since that is what was implied in every other instance of "restriction" in the article.

Apple Charging to Much, YES.

All I know, is when I buy Apple it works. I've been buying M$ products for years and I've always had a Problem here and there. I have 2 Macs the G5 and the new Intel ( not one problem yet, Knock on wood) I have 5 pcs thats running windows and I'm always ( seems Like ) doing driver changes or this and that. If your a betting man, Put your money on Apple.

Well on November 30th, businesses will have Vista and if it doesn't support Zune, it will be sad.

why would it be sad? the enterprise edition is what is being released, and that's for faily large companies. i don't think any of them will be using a zune. by the time jan 30 rolls around (when it actually matters), there will be software that supports vista.
